Hope we can train for the tournament, even with this COVID situation. Thing is, these are kids. We'll need to be careful with them. Will they have to train in a bubble outside the Alert Level 3 zones?

    HERE WE GO!!!

    FIBA ASIA U16 CHAMPIONSHIP - June 12-19

    FIBA U18 ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP - AUGUST 21-28

QUESTION: WHO ARE ELIGIBLE AND WHO ARE NOT?

IN U16 - Will it be 2005 born or 2006 born?

In U18 - Will it be 2003 born or 2004 born?

That is a million dollar question because basically the tourney bridges from 2021-2022. I wonder what born year will they apply.

So, there are players who are eligible for both.

Regardless, knowing our local system, they will put the eldests into U18 and the rest will be U16 if eligible.

Or maybe just play for both tourney

Anyway, we will know that in due time.

We cannot just assemble a team now cause of ongoing protocols. But I hope they start receuiting and planning now

Usually the FIBA World Cup U-19 and FIBA Asia U-16 tournaments are held on the same year(U-19 World Cup will be held first in a calendar year) while the FIBA World Cup U-17 and FIBA Asia U-18 tournaments are held on the next year.

I think they should put the best regardless of age, and see who plays well. There will be kids who will play in both tourneys.

They need to put up a training bubble outside the Alert Level 3 zone, and get the parents' consent. We're talking about teenagers here.

Also forgot to add Brix Versoza, Donjie Cornesio, and Drex delos Reyes here. They're all under 18, I believe.

I hope the Gilas coaches take a page out of Tab's book when it comes to linueps. We already have a good-sized lineup internationally, looking at these kids.

Also, I do hope the bigs are trained similarly to how Tab trained them. Either they're capable of playing and/or defending the perimeter, ala Baltazar or Tamayo, or at the very least, they're capable of playing the 4 alongside a bigger player, ala Isaac Go and Geo Chiu.

    All depends on Coach Sandy.

Let's see if Coach Sandy improved already as a coach. That is like 3 years in between from his last Batang Gilas stint.

This will be a Very Wing Oriented if all talents are available.

AND THE 2 PRICE OVERSEAS BASED PROSPECTS, THEY SHOULD DO THEIR BEST TO GET: CAELUM HARRIS AND FEMI EDU.
