Decent number of players on the Argentina/Brazil/Mexico rosters who played at the Jr NBA championships a couple years ago. The Latin America/Mexico teams were not that strong so nice to see they at least had some decent individuals. The US women's roster has seven players who played at the 2019 tournament, which is amazing considering that the teams are generally only drawing players from one metro area.

Aaliyah Guyton on the Brazil women's roster is the daughter of former NBA player AJ Guyton and four-time Brazil Olympian Adriana Moises Pinto.

        Men
        Dominican Republic 107 Chile 54
United States 118 Puerto Rico 67
        Argentina 81 Canada 70
        Brazil 69 Mexico 59

US scored 42 points against in the first quarter against PR thanks to 12 steals and 12 offensive rebounds...of course they didn't keep up that pace but they were really playing at 100 miles an hour for most of the game. Maybe the DR will be more competitive against the US tomorrow. Canada faded in the fourth quarter against Argentina.

        Women
Puerto Rico 60 Costa Rica 45
        Canada 82 Brazil 56
        United States 117 Chile 23
        Mexico 66 Argentina 58

Love seeing the US pressing full court at this level and today they forced 30 turnovers in the first half against a badly overmatched Chilean team. Huge gap from the US to Canada and then Canada to the rest. Brazil has a highly-touted 6-7 center (Letycia Vasconcelos) but she only played five minutes, not sure if she is healthy.

Canadian team didn't look very good versus Argentina. It was expected to be a weak version with a number of high talents missing, but this could be bad enough to not qualify for the Worlds.

            Day 2

            Men
United States 133 Dominican Republic 74
            Puerto Rico 81 Chile 37
            Argentina 98 Brazil 52
            Canada 85 Mexico 49

US-DR was one of the wilder first halves you'll see, with 36 free throws (only 14 makes!) in the first quarter alone, and Ronald Holland ejected for a pair of technical fouls late in the second quarter, after racking up 22 points and 9 rebounds in 15 minutes. Second half DR ran out of gas. I think DR is a little better than PR but hard to tell with no competitive matchups.

            Women
            Canada 112 Costa Rica 25
            Puerto Rico 74 Brazil 67
            Argentina 69 Chile 53
            United States 126 Mexico 43

CR must really be looking forward to their game against the US in a few days. Brazil had 76 rebounds in their game against PR, which feels like it should be a record for a losing team.

              Day 3
              Men
              United States 138 Chile 59
Dominican Republic 75 Puerto Rico 67
              Canada 92 Brazil 53
              Argentina 71 Mexico 49

Canada-PR will be the most interesting of the quarterfinals.

              Women
              Canada 102 Puerto Rico 50
              Brazil 73 Costa Rica 31
              United States 115 Argentina 36
              Chile 62 Mexico 60

Chile led Mexico by 15 after three quarters, which would have been enough to get them out of last place, but they couldn't hold the differential and will have to face Canada in the quarters.

Quaterfinals, winners to the WC next year

                Men
                Argentina 90 Chile 38
                Dominican Republic 74 Brazil 66
                Canada 93 Puerto Rico 65
                United States 123 Mexico 53

Finally a real game for the US tomorrow?

                Women
                Canada 76 Chile 25
                Argentina 56 Brazil 54
                Mexico 67 Puerto Rico 66
United States 121 Costa Rica 12

US went easy on CR, taking off the press just a couple minutes into the game. CR went over 25 minutes without a field goal between the late first and mid fourth quarters.

                  Semis

                  Men
                  Brazil 73 Chile 41
                  Mexico 82 Puerto Rico 78
                  Argentina 76 Dominican Republic 74
                  United States 99 Canada 81

US didn't open up their lead until late in the third quarter. I was trying to watch five things at once but it looked like they didn't really press Canada like they did the weaker opponents...I don't think they want to let Argentina make the final into a halfcourt game.

                  Women
                  Brazil 75 Chile 44
Puerto Rico 81 Costa Rica 48
                  Canada 74 Argentina 47
                  United States 121 Mexico 30

It's very generous of FIBA to let the Americas have four spots in next year's WC.

                    Finals

                    Men
                    7th Place: Puerto Rico 73 Chile 46
                    5th Place: Brazil 73 Mexico 60
3rd Place: Canada 92 Dominican Republic
Championship: United States 90 Argentina 75

Argentina led by 14 points in the second quarter, and once again the US didn't open up their lead until late in the third quarter. Unlike a lot of past US teams at this level, this team did not have dominant big men, and while they were able to rack up big scores in early games with their pressure and pace, against better opponents they weren't able to impose their style of play for most of the game.

                    Women
                    7th Place: Chile 67 Costa Rica 66
                    5th Place: Puerto Rico 68 Brazil 49
                    3rd Place: Mexico 72 Argentina 67
Championship: United States 118 Canada 45

Costa Rica led Chile by 15 points early in the fourth quarter, but could not hold on for a historic win.

It's very generous of FIBA to let the Americas have four spots in next year's WC.

Personally, I don't really like this season. I think the players didn't practice very well. In reality, sometimes the game was so boring that I just played at https://oddsdigger.com/au/table-tennis on my phone.
