With Canada's big win over Argentina, I believe they are a win and a Dominican Republic loss away from Qualifying outright. Would be a nice achievement to be one of the first teams to do so.

France loaded with NBA players managed to lose against Bosnia (Nurkic) after double OT.

Americas overview after first window of 2nd round.

    Close to Qualifying
    Canada, United States, Venezuela

Canada's in with one more win. United States is in with a win and a little help, or two wins. It would surprise me if they both didn't qualify next window. Venezuela's got a more difficult path next window, but another win over the Dominican Republic next window would qualify them.

    Good Shape
Argentina, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, Puerto Rico

Not as safe as the above three, but well positioned. Brazil had a noticeably bad window going 0-2 but still have a fantastic PD which may be vital in tiebreakers.

    Clinging to life
    Colombia

Win on the road at Mexico keeps them in the conversation, but a terrible PD and having to go on the road to the United States next window are bad signs.

    Playing for Pride
    Bahamas, Panama

What makes Group E likely to have the best 4th place finisher, I see the rest of the group scoring much needed wins on both.

With the above three almost certainly qualifying, that leaves a pretty bloated pack fighting for the remaining four spots.

The most rigged competition ever. Teams can’t use NBA players in the qualifiers while some other teams allow their local players to play for their Nt but don’t let other international players do the same. Too much double standards.

Fiba status as a federation is very weak which is the reason this mess happens. In no other sport you’d get to see comical situations like this.

And China too, apparently ... on the other hand, how? They can lose three games, Iran can win three games, Kazakhstan too, and China will have 7-5, Iran 8-4, Kazakhstan 8-4.

It's the first Latvia's appearance in WC. That's a relief after rough recent years.

    Teams with the ticket already:

C?te d'Ivoire, Lebanon, New Zealand, Philippines, Australia, Chine, Japan, Canada, Latvia, Germany, Finland

But how? China 7-2, Iran 5-4, Kazakhstan 5-4, three rounds to go, it is possible that China finish fourth in their group. So how they qualified?

Probably because of match-ups wins/losses. I didn't really try to get into the competition system in detail, just took info from LTU bb media, krepsinis.net particularly.

No, it was a mistake and now China is not among the teams which qualified to the WC. It was quite obvious, though, just look at standings.

Final game for Turkey tomorrow. Serbia favorite, but I hope at least we watch a good game. If we can win this one, I believe we would beat already qualified Latvia at home and Belgium possibly eliminated that day. Even three win may not be enough.

Partizan letting Serbian players to play and foreigners not looks pretty unfair too.

Congrats Serbia. One of few teams with moral compass must get the ticket to WC.

I have to say that some of these qualification games in this group were very entertaining. The game Serbia-Greece last summer was the best international game I have seen this year quality wise. But there were many more. Really enjoy watching the national team play during the season. I can see how the windows are exciting. Many fans have had a chance to see their national team play. But ofcourse the players are suffering because of all this. And it's unfair to unsportsmantlike. A solution must be found.

They deserve it more, and at this point I didn't even get my hopes up towards the end. Always the heartbreak...

Thanks but we were really lucky after all. Seems that Belgium was robbed yesterday against Greece.

    Me too.

I mean we saw that those qualifications could be really interesting in normal times, without apsurd windows.

Wondering if Turkey's elimination will turn out to have a positive outcome in the years to come or will make them another Croatia case, meaning they could possibly be erased from the basketball map for some years.
