What an olympics for our philippine athlete. Hoping it leads to our athletes getting more support so they don't have to fly out for training anymore.

Iba ang millennials and gen z of today, back then training here is deemed as a distraction given their fame pero its social media age, just upload your training now you get max exposure of their endorsements..

Sakit sa mata ng Japan vs Argentina. 10% shooting lang ata si Yuta at si Hachi. Then sabi ng commentator, ARG has an easy time in defense as JPN just stands there in offense, no ball movement nor screenings.

Si Julio Llamas, sleeper agent ng ARG. The real MVP of the game. He is not doing any coaching and making it easy for his fellow Argentinians.

And maybe there would be less calls to stop focusing on basketball (which also relies on private funding).

Government support talaga. Well, after we recover from the pandemic.

Once again, japan underachieves and does not live up to the hype. The first and biggest mistake of the japanese program was hiring julio llamas. Mas magaling pa si hasegawa dito. Much more impressed how the japanese offense flowed in 2015. Ngayon, they have the nba talents but their coaching is sub par.

Will be surprised if Llamas stayed coaching for Japan after this tournament..

Manu I think llamas did a good job on the psych of these guys taht they can score in world level..si hasegawa kasi medyo methodical..but given their skills now and methodological approach..they might go far now..

but unlike our 6'0 and below guards, campazzo is exposed to high level competition from FIBA, Euroleague and NBA, while our guards either play in the PBA or college leagues, you can't get high quality exp from that

But they said Japan is now the strongest team? Iran is more impressive than Japan in this Olympics.. their 6 pt loss Vs Czech Republic is the best performance of any Asian teams against western countries this year (2nd is gilas Vs Serbia)...

Well said, obviously there are some players that are an exception. Even Muggsy Bogues who was 5'3 was the 12th pick in the NBA and enjoyed a long career built on defense and facilitating. If we had someone like him in Gilas I would start him without a doubt.

As of now, the last PG we have even he's undersized is Jayson Castro... When he was on prime, no one in Asia can stop him.. and he's not liability on defense.. Kung ako Lang masusunod eh I will give him a final shot before retires.. Kaya pa nya eh...

in other words, it's quality in terms of skills and experience, not size.

so let's allow out midgets guards to develop with better exposure and experience.

size with quality of course is what's ideal (pipe dream for now).

in terms of who is already in d pool, dave has d best chance to grow into that big pg role. in d pba, perez is d best prospect.

dalph without shoes is 5-11 to 6-0 so not big enough.

Must have missed something, but weren’t people arguing Japan has the potential to be the best Asian team come 2023? But anyway, if the argument is right now, then we probably should wait first when/if the two teams go head to head. It isn’t really smart to deduce rankings this way esp vs different opponents. Even performances against a common opponent wouldn’t guarantee anything. One can argue Japan’s loss to Spain weighs heavier than Iran’s loss to Czech Rep but even that doesn’t amount to anything.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.
