Must have missed something, but weren’t people arguing Japan has the potential to be the best Asian team come 2023? But anyway, if the argument is right now, then we probably should wait first when/if the two teams go head to head. It isn’t really smart to deduce rankings this way esp vs different opponents. Even performances against a common opponent wouldn’t guarantee anything. One can argue Japan’s loss to Spain weighs heavier than Iran’s loss to Czech Rep but even that doesn’t amount to anything.

Italy is dangerous but everyone can see from miles away its weakness. Gallinari, Melli, Polonara and Tessitori won’t cut it against teams with imposing bigs. They have a promising forward though in Fontecchio, and Manion and Tonut are solid as guards.
