Playing to their strength. Italy is home to good sized wings and good shooters, at least in recent years. Gallinari is the most prominent who started his NBA career as a 6’ 10” small forward. There’s also Bellinelli, Datome, Gentile (and hopefully Fontecchio) making it to the NBA.

The last time they had some form of inside presence was when Cusin was still playing, but he was more of a defensive center (who defends by altering shots at the rim rather than being a shotblocker). Highly effective, though. Maybe Geo, Go and Carl can take notes as to how an unathletic big with some heft can be a good rim protector.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

Gymnast Carlos Yulo missed out on the podium and finished 4th in the vault, this is after he bombed out and did not qualify in the floor exercise in which he was the reigning world champion. I think the delay and the extra year did not benefit him, unlike some of the participants who took advantage of the extra time to recuperate and improve their skills.

If the Olympics happened as scheduled last year, he could have medalled IMO.

If he performed on his usual self in 2021 he couldve been a double gold medalist instead of one(floor) in 2020..the extra year able him to unleash that he is also good at vault..

The guy was good for silver in sea level at vault in 2019.. so thats a huge leap

Japan Point Godess Rui Machida, 0 points and 15 assists.

Also, as much as i dont like China win anything in the Olympics, it feels good to have Asian teams beat western ( and oceania) powers in womens basketball. Congrats China and Japan.

Sidenote: Yu Buintang ran the fastest 100m in the the semis at 9.89 and was the top seed going into the finals. He is the fastest Asian ever. He however did not run as fast and was left out of the podium in the finals. But still that was a huge accomplishment

That's why it's hard to our women's basketball team can get the top 4 spot in Asia.. realistically, I see we can beat first Taipei and NZL, rather than BIG 4 teams in Asia.... As for now, Our women's team should be able to stay first at Div. 1... They should learn first to play these teams consistently...

Gasol bros. should play like Gobert to beat USA... Anyway, No 3 sec defense violation in FIBA.. no need to switch, just put the bigs inside to protect the paint...

The strategy of Spain is so headscratching in my opinion. If I were their coach, I will clog the paint. They are chasing US players in the perimeter rather than put a wall in the paint and that resulted to the drives from the Americans. They are not taking advantage the obvious lack of quality bigs in this US team. Spain is sticking too much in their system rather than taking advantage the presence of Gasol bros, Hernangomez and Victor Claver.

Serbia, Australia and France overwhelmed US with size. Spain has all of the tools needed to beat US but they are so stubborn, in my opinion, with their system. I am kind of disappointed with their performance.
