Nobody noticed Iran's gallant stand vs. Spain
Win first in actual, official games. A roster of multiple nba players does not guarantee a strong team. Even an all nba usa team is not guaranteed to medal.

Japan, with all hype, was just second to the last in fiba world 2019. Even with all moral victories in spain 2014, nobody ever said gilas was the best asian team at that point. Same for japan, they got to prove it on-court not on paper.

Of course. Nobody is saying otherwise.

My point is just, there's nothing wrong with predicting that Japan would be a strong contender for being the top team in Asia-Oceania basketball. We have some things to substantiate such prediction.

Bandwagon based on actual results in official games not because this team has nba players or a foreign coach. Im not joining this japan bandwagon because of their underwhelming world cup 2019 performance.

He is not a bandwagon, If you don't like Japan it is okay man but we are basing our assessments with facts. Also 2 years has passed since 2019, they are a better team than before. If you based a team on their past performances than their current form that is a huge mistake man. That would be like saying that just because we performed the best in 2014, we should have easily reached the quarterfinals in 2019. Accusing people on being bandwagons because they have a different opinion is low man. Just form better arguments.

Really 3x3 good avenue for rising stars..keisei tominaga can be a good japan pt guard in the future

And the asian teams are using their top stars in this from hu jinqiu to Ira Brown..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

I wonder how many of us here in IBN should be accused of riding Gilas' bandwagon for being optimistic of Gilas' chances in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cu & 2023 FIBA World Cup?

This despite some posters here have been following Gilas (several iterations of Gilas teams) for several years already. Such a ridiculous idea of what riding the bandwagon is all about.

Watching the Japan game vs Spain , their NP is bad!
If they can a decent center like Marcus or even Kouame level, to go along with Rui , Yuta , Baba and a div 1 PG. That's really dangerous

Yeah. They got Scariolo and their best local players but then they scrimped on the NP. WTF JAPAN!

They should get someone legit like Anthony Randolph (for Slovenia before) or a prime Blatche if they wanted to contend in this Olympics.

Parang Taiwan import lang si Gavin Edwards.

A good basketball program should be able to identify a NP who will fit the team since you can only have one.

Japan and Korea have NPs who actually live in their countries and play in their domestic leagues. In a way they are not like Blatche who only came here a few days before games begin. Secondly, reading and writing the language is a requirement of their naturalization IRC. I dont think their populace would take it well naturalizing somebody who doesn't know their language. Unlike us.

As many here already know, English and Filipino are the two official languages of the Philippines. Look it up, it's in our constitution. Blatche doesn't have to learn Filipino or Tagalog to be considered assimilated.

I forgot we're still not taking into account the really questionable import choice when evaluating Japan, imagine if they got Isaiah Austin or Chris Mccolough and they definitely have the funds to pay those guys playing along Hachimura and Watanabe while backed up by Baba, Hiejima and Tanaka then they also add in Chikara Tanaka, I think it'll make roberto cry. Not being a bandwagon here, nobody can convince me this isn't the position that Gilas wants to be down the line.
