He always had that body language whenever he's not holding the ball..
I watch his games with gilas when he is still in HS or college. He is active even without the ball. He cuts, he backdoor and active in the glass.
Of Course if he has injury that totally explained it.
Also that there's plenty of teams in the Japanese pro leagues - B. League, B2 & B-3 leagues. Sa B. League pa lang, 22 teams na sila. If B-league limits the Asian import quota to 1 asian import per team, then that's only a total of 22 asian imports at maximum. I its not really the Asian imports that would take away the opportunities from the locals, for me its the world imports that really hurts local players development & opportunities. The 3-import per team set up is a bit detrimental to the development of japanese locals
Funny how we are supposed to be the #1 basketball-loving country in Asia but a country like Japan has so many more pro teams than we do.
Even their 2nd tier league can afford imports. Meanwhile our 2nd tier leagues are like baranggay level players.
Agree. Japanese basketball as of this moment doesn't have enough quality bigs as national team prospects. The Takeuchi twins are already old & are already in the twilight of their careers so as Atsuya Ota ( Thirdy's teammate at San-en). As of now, only Avi Schafer could be considered a quality big man who is on his prime in Japanese basketball.
If Matt Aquino makes some significant improvement in Japan (he's still young, by the way), then I think he has a chance of becoming a prospect for the Japanese national team. That is if Japanese basketball would be open to such idea. Matt might become a role playing big man for the Japanese national team.
japan has more big man prospects than us. they have schafer (23 yrs 6'9") & hugh watanabe (6'9" 22 yrs) as locals, both with ncaa div 1 experience. add hachimura and yuta watanabe + naturalized big and their frontline is secure for the next few years. they also have a couple of half japanese teenagers who are currently 6'6" and above

they don't. we can really have a dozen of players standing around 200cm (6'7) or taller.
