Yeah here we are again with the youth tournament after a year break. Tomorrow is the draw and they put 4 European teams in pot 2.



The tournament will take place in Latvia in approximately 2 month. You can write down every update you get about the U19 Teams.

So it's officially happening? Good to hear. The word was that FIBA will say official say on Youth BB this summer only in May.

So here is the draw. As expected, again the hardest group for Turkey but its better to have them in the group stage. Even without Sengün second seed and the tournament is widely open for us. Dont know much about Argentina but Spain is more than beatable and France too. Always beat them in U16 and U18. Beating is not the goal but they should make as many games as possible.

Canada has a chance to put together one of our best teams ever. No idea who is playing yet, but it is a deep, deep pool of very good players.

If we can get half of these guys to show up and fill out around it with a load of other very good players it should be a medal contender. Should even contend with the US if most show up.

Serbian media says that tournament should take place. Besides cancelation of European Youth Tournaments there will some kind of idiotic challenger tournaments (3 groups per generation).

The roster for the U19 is out. There was really no need for Alperen Sengün but ok. Good thing is that we use some 04 born guys despite being 2 year younger. The main guys are 02/03 born

Adem Bona (Prolific Prep)
Tibet Gorener (San Jose State)
Sarper David Mutaf (Gran Canaria B)
Batin Tuna (Tofas Bursa)

Also very interested in watching Mustafa Serimhan Serim (Montverde) and some 04 guys like Ege Tan Yildizoglu and Berke Büyüktuncel. Ege is one of two very pomising point guard prospects of the 04 generation beside Eray Büyükcangaz of Buducnost. Would have loved to watch him here too. Büyüktuncel despite being a late 04 guy his frame is ready to compete, just his fundamentals are a question mark.

This team with deadly shooters like Tibet Görener, Serim and David Mutaf who can create their shots to some extend can stretch the floor for Sengün and Bona. Also the forward position is very very strong. Just the play making is just a question mark since there are some 03/04 guys who will struggle defensively.

I don't follow closely younger generations, but I think this Serbian 2002 generation is not drawing too much attention (maybe rightfully). Todorovic (sharpshooter) and Musikic are the ones with most interesting profiles from 02 genertation. What's interesting is that this generation will be strengthened with much more potent and talented 03/04 generations with some high profile prospects such as Jovic and Djurisic, as well as Radovanovic (great defensive upside), Belic (high IQ) and Petrovic (little bit undersized PG but great at changing speed, first step, solid shooter). More important than winning a medal is probably improvement and evaluation of upside of each player to play a serious role at senior level.

This is going to be a nasty tournament because it will not only include very deep and talented 2002 generation, but various gems from other generation since FIBA declined other age tournaments.

It's really scary how much talent this tournament will possess.

I think top teams should be USA, a little bit inexperienced roster, but mega prospect in Holmgren, Jaden Ivey and plenty of other elite prospects as always. Canada's talent was well introduced mojo13, the farm of Canadian talent really at the peak now with studs like Mathurin, Caleb Houstan. France with mega talent Victor Wembanyama who will only be 17yo, but I think will make a lot of damage, also Begarin, Strazel. Turkey with Sengun, Bona and others. Serbia with Jovic and others. Lithuania with Tubelis, Marciulionis and others. Australia with huge PG prospect that I like Giddey. Spain's generation will be strong as well as they will have a lot of players of previous U16 medalist team. Any of these teams could go after medals. Can't wait.

Serbia U19 lost 82:87 (29:15, 19:23, 16:24, 18:25) to Al Kuwait SC in its first friendly game.

Elmedin Kikanović and AJ Slaugther led the Kuwaiti club with respectively 26 pts and 8 reb, and 27 pts and 5 ast.

As expected Furkan Haltali is in and Alperen Sengün is out. There are also three 2004 born guys with Samet Yigitoglu, Ege Tan Yildizoglu and Berke Büyüktuncel. The center and the power forward position is not very deep though.

Turkish media said today he will. We are likely to make finals in the OQT so he won't be there for the group games but he will join for the second part of the tournament
