  • Luka Doncic - The next Lebron James

I can see him going Lebron route, and dominate the NBA for a decade the way Lebron dominated. He is unbelievable talent.

more like the next Larry Bird, but I do understand your enthusiasm here...let's just hope that his body will hold up to constant NBA marathon beating, especially knowing that he's not that athletically gifted as other superstars in NBA

      Why the Larry Bird comparison?
21 year old Luka is a so, so much better than 21 year old Larry Bird. 21 year old Luka may be near prime Larry already.

So now it's an insult to compare him to the great Larry?
Prime Bird led his Celtics to 3 NBA titles, all while being elite player both on offense and defense. With all due respect to Luka, he's only offensive player at the moment and he's not even close to Bird as a shooter. I'm not as enamored with his astronomic stats as his fans are, since this basketball era is built for perimeter players to dominate...

I don’t understand Bird comparison at all. They’re both white, but that’s everything that those 2 have in common. They have totally different style of playing. Luka is playing much more like Magic and LeBron or even Harden.

About stats. Comparing 21 years old player to top players off all time in their prime is total nonsense. Do you know what % for 3 had Jordan in his first 4 seasons? 15%. Bird in his second year, 24 years old, was shooting 27% for 3. And he remained under 30% till he was 28 years old. Shooting is one of the things in basketball that can improve a lot over the years. And then there’s a difference what kind of 3s players are taking. Luka has only 24% of his 3s assisted only Harden has less. No one is shooting step backs over 40%. Harden’s 36% is near max. for that kind of shots.

And when we’re talking about inflated stats of current players, we should know that LeBron in his second year has been playing 42 minutes per game, Luka 33. A big difference. LeBron per 36 had 23/6/6. Luka per 36 had 31/10/9.5. That’s a huge difference. LeBron TS% 55.5, Luka TS% 58.5.

Luka is nowhere near those legends yet. But 20 years old Luka is for sure in consideration for the best 20 years old player ever.

well, the reason I even mentioned Bird in this conversation was because poster above me already compared Luka's impact to Lebron's, completely disregarding the athletic differences between the two players and even the fact that Lebron is biggest ironman NBA has ever seen...Luka seems to have a "normal" human body so to speak with all the niggling injuries and mortal pains all of the other NBA players apart from Lebron have. It's one thing to match Lebron's production and impact in one or two seasons, and completely different thing to do it year after year like Bron does (and even if Lebron is my favorite player of all time , I still acknowledge his weaknesses in the mental aspect of the game, where Luka might have an apparent edge eventually)

Style of playing, position and numbers, impact on their team are very similar. LeBron is much better athletically but Luka can become much better shooter. What athleticism is for LeBron shooting can become for Luka. How you stop 6'7, 230 Pg, who is elite at attacking the rim, if he becomes good shooter? You just can't.

It highly unlikely, but not impossible, Luka will have career like LeBron. Comparing only their first 2 seasons, Luka is better.

Luka is better more or less in everything including TS%. If you look their per 36 minutes numbers the difference is even bigger.

A really good player. Many of his games are characterized by unconventional moves and maneuvers. Did you notice it yourself or did the media tell you?

James is James and Doncic is Doncic... full stop. No "next Lebron" will ever exist, as there will be no "next Giannis", or "next Durant", or there ever was "next Kareem", or "next Magic", or "next Jordan" etc...

I can totally see your point! However, I wouldn’t say that Doncic is the next Larry Bird either, but I can understand where you’re coming from. In any case, several newspaper articles from his country stated Doncic used to have a severe gambling addiction (the outlets listed https://www.woo-casino.org/bonuses/) as his casino of choice, but that could very well be fake news. I don’t know if Bird ever had such problems??
