no import and only FIBA eligible players?

SMB: no Ross and Tautua, still have a chance Cabagnot, Lassiter, Santos (though aging) can still be competitive, Fajardo
BGSM: no Pringle, only Tenorio, Thompson, Mariano, Aguilar, maybe?
ROS: didn't realize that they are in rebuild mode, so NO
TNT: good core (Castro, Pogoy, Parks, Troy, Erram) still competitive

just realized the gap between the elite teams and the poor teams is much much much wider now.....BWE and Columbian are d league quality teams

It is good for the development of our players. My only fear is...would there be no problem in composing the National team? considering they would the schedule for their training will be more complex. Their ability to build chemistry as a team will be affected here, their availability to play for the team will also be of big concern. Hope they will be all gathered for at least half a year of training in preparation for 2023 .

If anything, schedule is the least of their worries, unless they're playing in the NBA. Most leagues overseas take the FIBA calendar into account.

                Very good points bro.

So it seems the popularity of basketball in the Philippines, more often than not, has become more of a hindrance than an advantage.

Lets put it this way, basketball isn't that popular in Iran & I could assume that Iran's premier pro basketball league isn't as big as the PBA. No wonder Iran, more often than not, could send a well prepared National senior team in FIBA tournaments while the Philippines is always hounded by preparation issue that it usually send a National team that trains like it is preparing for an all-star game

Something which our beloved PBA doesn't take into account & is not willing to adjust.

What the PBA wants is just remain with status quo - 10 months per season & 3-conference format per season.

                  • Bad thing about this is that they'll get to see Ravena first hand.Of course they will have to know what is his strengths and weaknesses.

It can work the other way around, thirdy can scout them too

will only be bad if a certain facet of gilas's system (offense, defense, ball-handling, shooting, etc) will heavily rely on thirdy. i dont think this will be the case, regardless of the coach.

Do you really think they cant scout him if he stays hidden in the PHL? Have you heard of this thing called the interwebz computer?
