-----[QUOTE=Joško Poljak Fan;1356401]That Helios team was a pretty special case, was great 1 year before and had some terrible signings the year later. Ended up the worst, or 2nd worst in competition. Something like that.----

They actually did hold their opponents to a pretty low ppg total for the season , to their credit, but man their offense was really really really weak....

    59.6 ppg, .387 fgp, .312 3pp.....

What's really crazy is LL Mega Bemax had a .279 three point percentage....

The main thing is - he left. And sure, there was a long line of clubs waiting to pay 200k for him after the "brilliant" season he had and moreover offer 3 years deal... He got a great chance to get away from Rytas and took it right away. Great job by Rytas management

Brose made a roll back and decided to stay in charge as majority shareholder of Brose Bamberg to guarantee successful basketball, whatever that means with a look at the last three seasons.

The time after Trinchieri was horrible dude. You guys lost your leading position to Bayern Munich which made an attack thanks to Uli Hoeness. Dennis Schröder bought Braunschweig entirely and wants to make a european top club out of it. Ich bin gespannt, was daraus wird.

Basketball would really benefit if the EuroCup just went away and we were left with only EuroLeague and Champions League. International basketball would particularly benefit as fewer players would be unavailable for qualifiers.

lets hope giannakopoulos will announce on the press conference this wednesday that panathinaikos will leave euromafia and the spanish clowns ruling basketball. panathinaikos will for sure lose in short term but in long term euroleague will have a much bigger loss from a move like this. fiba will have a great boost in their attempt to get back to be the ones in charge of european basketball and euroleague will lose the biggest TV contract among all teams (or 2nd i dont know about maccabi's)

we will find out. its not about basketball only, cause he is funding ALL of the club's sports, apart from football and he wanted to take charge of football as well. he was also in talks with the government during the last year for new stadiums (one for football, one for basketball and one for volleyball). he had set a terget of 20millions to be gathered by anyone who wanted to help, but not even 1 million so far. he is also in a war with certain clubs of gate13. but during the last days he posts and reposts on his instagram about euroleague and mostly about financial issues. his main questions were about euroleague agreeing with the players about this 80% (while they only played 60% of the season) without even asking the teams, whats the financial plan about next season (bertoclown has given 3 interviews last week,he didnt mention a single thing about that only wishfull thinking of keeping turkish airlines as a sponsor but nothing official or even a promise, just empty words) and money euroleague owes to panathinaikos (i dont know if that stands for other teams too).

Yeah, everyone can wish to get higher paid job, better place to work at, but at times there's nothing much to choose from, no such good offer. At least part of his wishes came true - he left the mess Rytas is nowadays

The same feeling about this situation. Would be hugely surprised if DPG will have guts to leave, then to pay 10mln (or so) to ECA for breaking a deal

Not only Dacka and Tofas also Karsiyaka will follow. They were second in the turkish super league and they will get around half million euro for participation. Just Galatasaray Istanbul is unsure.

So how many spots Turkey will get in BCL? I thought it will be 3: Karsiyaka, Tofas and Dacka and that's it or there's some different info floating around?

Such kind of penalties, like the 10M € for leaving euroleague first have to be enforced in reality. That means endless court sessions and different interpretations and mostlikely 5-10 years and numerous appeals before it can be enforced. With that in mind it can become a notable financial burden for both sides and if Giannakopoulos is really as stubbourn as some claim, it might not be the worse idea in the world for ECA to back off eventually.
With the Greek TV rights, Panathinaikos leaving would be a bigger dissaster for euroleague than for Giannakopoulos. If the later is willing to lose some millions (or decrease the budget) on short term, of course.

The press conference is postponed, which probably means the Pao is not going to change sides. The deadline for joining in Fiba's Champions league is untill this friday.

However after Tofas, Rytas, Bilbao, Darussafaka changing sides and some pretty decent clubs reportedly staying loyal to Fiba, eurocup won't be the 2nd best competition the next time few more teams change sides. I imagine the likes of Unicaja, Virtus, Partizan or Russian clubs will always be present in eurocup due to hopes for qualifying to euroleague, however it wouldn't take much for the rest to follow.
It will already be interesting to see which teams will fill the vacant eurocup places.

Reportedly 3. However if I recall correctly Fiba can re-assign places from qualifications if f.e. no team from Slovenia would decide to participate (which is both dumb and likely).
Same could probably happen with the 3rd Greek spot in the league if Promitheas and everyone else down the ladder declined participation...

Turkey has 4 spots plus TT Ankara could qualify through qualification because of last 8 this season. So Turkey could end up having 5 teams in BCL.

Karsiyaka, Tofas, Dacka and Galatasaray were targeted. Tofas and Dacka have committed, Karsiyaka will most likely too but Galatasaray seems to stay in Eurocup. In this case Turkey would send:

Tofas, Dacka, Karsiyaka and Teksüt Bandirma and over qualification TT Ankara could also show up there.

Wait there is another if. If Galatasaray commits there will be 4 turkish teams for sure otherwise Bandirma can be invited but its not sure. Judging by the performances of Bandirma so far an invitation is probable though.

Thnx. I think back in the day I saw exactly the same wiki link JPF posted, but if some changes might be done, then you probably are right. Btw, how these Turkish sides are doing nowadays? I'm aware only about Efes and Fener, but totally missing the situation of other Turkish clubs, at least those which were among the top ones in standings
