what do you guys think about this? a March Madness-style ending for the EL.

It's a fun idea. Obviously less "legitimate" than deciding the f4 teams via playoffs but an interesting thought experiment anyway. Would be extremely exciting to watch and probably a shot in the arm to the competition after how bloated the regular season has become.

The only fair location is Istanbul, considering this system isn't fair to Efes because the best team in regular season must start from scratch.

But in any case much better then cancelation.

I am mad that in any scenario Fener doesn't have any chance for the title, but Istanbul as destination for F4(F16 .. March Madness.. whatever) is the best option.

It won't happen anyway. EU in lockdown. Many Americans in USA and nobody will come back or be let back in anytime soon. Tournament in Istanbul? Turkey is at the moment going on exact same path than Italy and Spain, being something like 20 days back. So tournament in Istanbul is even less likely than in Milano.

Just reading how Trump won’t let economy to die, if he really goes in a different path than most of the world, that will kill even already small % for Euroleague to finish the season. Nobody will let American players in their country in that case.

Disclaimer: I believe this nonsense of finishing the season should end as soon as possible. We have much bigger problems in our hands.

I see USA started to use WW2 strategy and transforms civil to 'war industry' where for instance car factories will start to produce medical equipment like ventilators. Turkey is starting serial production of ventilators too. Euro pruducers four-time increased production. World is fighting against this cataclysm and this battle will be won.

So now securing home court advantage before season has ended should be criterium? Going with that logic that Real didn’t secure home court advantage yet, which is true, we should conclude that Efes didn’t secure first place either, meaning, if the season won’t resume, Efes cannot be crowned as a champion. I see that you finally understand, why Efes cannot be champion.

As Parker said situation with EL is complicated. Efes made big season with Larkin as maybe the best MVP in the last decade. There will be no easy solution but waiting what will happen with corona.

Congretulations to Efes as the most talented team this season which they proved. Maybe they will not reach the title but they were the best.

Efes is the best team but there is no sense to give someone title just because of regular season. I mean the same for every single league. The most realistic solution at the moment is to cancel all competitions and keep only stats.

Many contracts are up on June 30th and teams won't have trained for 2 months in the best-case scenario. Imagine a tournament with fatties on the court, no one in the stands and masked refs.

It is a shame because with Bartzokas we were on our way to another title but what can you do.
