Sad incident, I can't explain who would do such a thing. Granted, Lamonica has a bad reputation, quite unfairly imo. He is not worse than any other EL ref, better than most I'd say.

Anyway, Pao fans don't think that they lost yesterday because of the refs. Many of them accuse Pitino, quite unfairly also, surely they didn't like the refereeing, but they understand that the problem is the team's limits and deficiencies. A lot of persons were targeted after that defeat but I can't imagine even the worst hooligans to be more angry against Lamonica than against Pitino, Johnson, Pappas, Rice, DPG or even Calathes.
Lets not jump to conclusions here.

PAO lost yesterday because of the individual worse player. Thats all!

Too be precise, because of the much inferior quality of PAO's bench players. If you watch the match paying attention to the individual performances, you will see that the (VERY GOOD) 2nd and 3rd players of Barca made all the difference.

I personally don't like Lamonica and his refereeing, i.e. his tendency to be the most important man on the floor. But physically attacking him is not only unacceptable but also doesn't help proving anyone's cause, there are more creative ways for that

Bench or starting five doesnt matter. Barca has the way better player but the bench makes a bigger difference.

Do you see the furure or did God tell you what will happen with fener home games that only away games are left as deciding factor?
Not to mention knowing how rest of the teams will end...

At the end of the day, who is Gate 13? Is it one person? It is 100? Is it 1000 or is it 10.000? So whoever sits with G13 is a criminal, are they?

DPG has successfully fucked up the hottest arena in Europe pricing out most fans either they sit with G13 or a father and his two sons who have to pay 120 euros to watch the game yesterday. Under Thanasis and Pavlos I would pay 120 euros for the season and that included at least 4 games against Oly, now the cheapest is 250 (and no Oly) Season tickets this year are down 20% and ticket sales 25%. He might as well hire Maroussi sports arena which fits 2000 for this friends, middle class and rich fans. The OAKA is a church this year.
So you do not agree that clubs should earn money from tickets and price them at the price where they still have close to full attendance and get most cash?
I mean you do not agree in economics and rather prefer communist or socialist way?

That's not exactly the truth, 6.5 minutes before end it was 74:70, so Pao was out scored by 15 in last minutes. I don't believe second units played in the end.

A good second half from Maccabi. Especially when Giannis gave up on softie Jake Cohen, who lost every physical battle, and went with Hunter and Reynolds together. Maccabi took over the paint at both ends.
Wilbekin scored, but the man of the game was Dorsey. Not only the big threes at the end, but his decision-making was untypically clever. Penetrations and good passes instead of just lobbing a three every time.
The last pass he got from Hunter was poetry in motion. Hunter was already on his way to pass to Caloiaro in the corner, the whole defense moved there, and Hunter changed his pass in the last second to a wide open Dorsey.
Better defense on the guards in the second half too.

Maccabi should be very worried about Aaron Jackson. He can't run a single set play. After more than two months with the team he still doesn't know the playbook. He hardly penetrates and almost never plays the pick and roll. Big flop at least so far.

When the second unit doesn't deliver, you cannot have a balanced rotation, with the known consequences. For example, Rice was replacing Calathes and in 11 min he had 0 points from shooting, 3 assists and 2 to. The result of that was a tired Calathes in the end, as he has been many times in the past.
Consider Pappas (pir 1 pt 9:32 ) or Johnson (pir-4 pt 12:42) or the compined pir -1 of Mitoglou plus Rautnis who is the strangest transfer ever btw.

Let me put it more simply. You cannot win vs Barca's level teams using just 6 players unless they have a stellar performance.

I have totally different observation. In crucial minutes only Fredette was capable of creating something. Barca had Delaney, Mirotic, Higgins and Abrines. Yes Rice was bad, but he is far more creative than Calathes in clutch time, he should play. Calathes is just unplayable in clutch. Nobody will defend his pick&roll, you just go under. Only Saras has lost that gamble. Miracles happen, but not very often.

Delaney isn't Hanga's back-up, they just mix the rotation. Pao's 'first unit' played well against a team that used a 3 and d tweener as a point guard.

A team that aspires to win the Euroleague this year, played with a team that aspires to be 6th. Nothing strange in the result. Without seeing Barca's roster, I can bet that the 10th player would be a starter in Panathinaikos. As simple as that.

    About Lamonica:
A person that doesn't do their job well, doesn't deserve to fear for his wellbeing. Period. I'm not a fan of calling people names but if you support anything different then you are (in the words of the great Red Forman) a dumbass

Actually, that would be a terrible idea. I live in* NYC and I can't afford to go see the (horrible) Knicks more than twice/thrice a year. The Nets had decent prices but the trip to Barclay's Center is pretty annoying AND after the got Irving and Durant, the prices went up.
Many people would be left out, not just the hooligans. There are multiple ways to keep them out but...whatever...we've discussed this many times here.

Edit: *right next to, would be a better term.

Pao is probably the most successful team in the Euroleague this year considering the use of demostic players/budget and overall performance ( 6th in Europe). They lost against Barcelona which has a triple budget Pao has and a much deeper rooster.

Overall, Pao managed to be more consistent and is able to win anywhere in Europe. Making slow progress as time goes by. As a fan who has been spoiled during the last decades, I actually thoroughly enjoy watching this teams current development. We have to look at the big picture. If Mitoglu follows Papagianis' footsteps and becomes more consistent. Then then are is core of four domestic key players on the team. And since the new Greek government has lowered taxes on professional athletes, next season Pao (and Oly) will have more to spend on foreign players as well. Then they will be able to reach the next step, if they won't surprise this year. Personally if I were a top 4 team, I wouldn't want Pao in the play offs.

There are still 9 games to play and PAO has one of the most difficult schedules (mostly away games) so the 6th rank is everything but not sure.

So, Calathes is the problem once again

Your theory doesn't explain why PAO was ahead for 3.5 quarters and why they lost the control when they were too tired to play defence and to grab rebounds as they were doing until then. Fatigue influences all parts of the game, ofence included. Why the "creativity" of Barca was not a factor until then?

For the record, Calathes scored another double-double plus 7 rebounds. Not his best game, better than the average game of most pgs though.

Pao was -15 in last 6 minutes. Calathes was shooting 0/3, 2 TO, 1/2 FT and 1 assist in that time. This type of games are normally decided in last minutes, that is the time when leaders should step in. Barca’s stars did, but unfortunately Nick’s inability to shoot is a very big liability for Pao in the clutch. To give the ball to Fredette and expect miracles from him is more or less the lost cause, Calathes being useless off ball doesn’t help either. Rice looks a better option for closing the games, at least on paper. We all agree that Calathes is a good Pg, but his limitations were proved to be too big many times, especially in close games and playoffs, when (in)ability to create for himself or shoot becomes much bigger issue. I don’t believe that Pao fans are content just to make playoffs and loose 0:3 again.

Yes, but since Barca's bench was deeper, Pao's players were worn off in the dying minutes. Barca exhausted Calathes and Fredette throughout the game. Pao's bench is actually fairly good, but against Barca they fall short.
