Yeah, i agree. But before that, PBA has to consistently have a significant increase to its revenue for a number of years to generate a trickle-down effect to its member clubs, and eventually to their players.

Just 5 conferences into its existence, it already won a PBA title. Too bad, it got sold and became an SMC farm team.
This might be unfamiliar for a few but the E-Sports company BREN Esports are putting heavy money for their Dota 2 team and Mobile Legends team. They probably have the best bootcamp in Southeast asia. The owner of BREN happens to be Joe DeVance’s best friend. I actually think if BREN joins the PBA (starting with D league/MPBL) they will be able to take Player development seriously. BREN already has the facility.

edit: this is only the owner’s house. The BREN bootcamp is different.

its actually the boosters who can match the PBA's salary, not the school itself, but sad to say, some PBA team owners are also the collegiate boosters, MVP's Ateneo and San Beda, SMC's Letran, Phx Petroleum and DLSU. Only NU (Sy) and UP (Gokongwei and Mascarinas) have boosters that can match the coffers of the PBA.

was Terrence Romeo the youngest rookie drafted in recent years? we could attribute that to FEU not having boosters on the same mold of the above-mentioned

Calvo is the youngest as of late, he is also the youngest in the PBA at just 21...

thank you, we need more below 25 year olds in the league especially that the bubble format and compressed conference would be the template for the foreseeable future until vaccine is available. BGSM's OT loss vs ROS just show us that talent/star power alone can't win you games. Ginebra was gassed out in the latter parts of the game while ROS young guns like Mocon and Nambatac were running circles

too bad the current culture doesn't put emphasis on upside and development, when you're drafted you're expected to produce right away

              • Desiderio I think was also just 21 when he entered the PBA, but that's more of an exemption than the rule...Imagine a 23 year redshirt transfer in Abando yet he can still play for Letran for 2 years maybe even 3...

That's especially true if you're drafted to a team that emphasizes winning.

Teams have to be able to develop capable backups and replacements for veteran players when they get too old.

and the empires have no time or patience in developing players (win now attitude eh), meanwhile the farm teams "develop" their stars to be harvested on a later time by empires. Probably only Alaska and ROS are patient enough to develop players, since they don't have the budget to match the 2 empires

this system actually makes the PBA D league somehow meaningless, the D League just functions as the old PBL, hopefully when the PBA D League resumes, teams would fully utilize their respective development teams (parang MVP teams lang ang merong development team \, with the rest being small market teams and college teams)

                    • As the headline says...A brutal schedule awaits everyone...I hope no major injuries may occur to all players involved on this so-called PBA bubble, finishing all the remaining elimination games on Nov 11(?) is such demanding task to all those PBA players who is not accustomed on playing almost everyday except for those who had the experience playing for the national team majorities are not conditioned physically to play back to back to back..Well goodluck to them.

under these circumstances the team with the most fresh legs (youth), depth and great conditining will survive.

Uaap has all the leverage the pba should make themselves more enticing for players rather than waiting on rule changes.

Shame for Ginebra, really. Only Scottie, Aljon and Caperal are their rotation players under 30. They have good young players, especially their rookies who were considered steals in the draft. Cone should consider giving them more burn in order to rest his vets.

Ginebra has Art, Arvin, Balanza, and Salado, all of whom are under 30, and are capable of being rotation players given minutes.

funny in their previous game, SMB played Arwind and Cabagnot for 40 mins, even if they reached the playoffs, those legs won't be there
