Well they finished 2nd in last seasons philippine cup elims with Abueva. So they are indeed scary. The big 4 of Phoenix (Perk. Chua. Wright and Abueva) scored a combined 88 points. Wala pa yung bench mob like RR. Rios and Jay R Reyes

Well it is his first game back in over a year, people will be curious how he looks, does he have the same antics etc. But it was indeed impressive. Especially they played on a Monday and against an unpopular team in nlex

But he needs a rival to further boost his popularity.. just like Yap vs Caguioa.. could be Parks? Kiefer? Junmar? Si Junmar kasi walang gaanong appeal while Kiefer and Ray are just new in the PBA..

probably kiefer/rayray or a incoming kobe or ricci (papogian vs never say die attitude), sayang a junmar-abueva rivalry could have been great, remember Calvin won the only award that has eluded Junmar's career, the ROY.

Its not necessary for Calvin to have a rival. He himself is already a brand, well loved by the filipinos in general. Love him or hate him he is already popular. The views on the livestream speak for itself.

Yap is very popular in his early years in the PBA (maybe thanks to Kris Aquino's media power) but with his rival with Caguioa cemented that status become as "face" of the PBA.. Yap is very popular even with class A,B fans whiel Caguioa is a "masa" like popularity (thanks to Ginebra's popularity)..

Arwind is old already but it was a good comparison between those two. Both from the same province, almost identical style of play, antics, same management etc. Around 2015 when Yap and Caguioa were starting to decline I remember a lot of fans thinking of a new rivalry. Castro vs Lee, Fajardo vs Slaughter surprisingly Abueva vs Romeo. Jalalon vs Scottie hasnt panned out yet.
