MPBL and NBL are amateur leagues. I think he means having another pro league to rival the PBA just like what the MBA did before

Like what you've said theres a possibility that the rule will backfire on pba.. but imo this prevents smc by hoarding top filam talents thru 'Alab' and its not only targetting the chooks to go players.. you have two years to test your mettle overseas...its calculated imo but sabi iif you do bad thing you do it irregardless of the rules, this might be only applied to local players not the kai sotto's

i'm sensing expansion teams in the next 2 years. the amount of quality players coming in will even dislodge lots of 2nd stringers on the 12 teams.

They already said that in philstar that if there are expansion happening, they will be forced to reduce the conference from 3 to 2.

What Is scary is if thirdy goes overseas and has mild success which leads to more lucrative offers, it can be enticing for top marketing prospects( rivero, GDL bros, Paras etc) to skip the pba for 2 years or more and try thier own luck outside.

they should dare PBA to ban them.. it will backfire pba..

It is a bit insecure of the PBA to ban players just because they want to decide for themselves when and how they want to be drafted.
Times are different now. They are no longer the top league in the ASEAN or Asian region. Time will come where the incoming rookies would rather play for Thailand, ABL or China.

will be saying the other side of story here, nba also has eligibility rules in drafting and if you dont want to play right away you still get his draft rights ala luis scola and ricky rubio..it prevents hoarding and lack of between drafys.. see what happened to ros being blindsided by the powers it be in the draft.. how can you be so sure that pba ruling is just pro smc and mvp and none of its independent members.. if youre a top local prospect you vet to nba d league or intl league in 2 years.. and if you a mid level prospect comes smack to a very deep draft.. what will happem will you get an equal opportunity?only one out of100 local players can go and play abroad evenfor2years. and the top amateurguys will go in gilas anhway and be protected


I am noy in favor of pba expansion.. i am more in favir of a stronger 2nd league mpbl have them 12-14 teams

if import caliber there is abl, japan, and cba, asean pro leagues for asean caliber imports.
with chooks backing mpbl should step up then, raise salaries for pba caliber player and have a division I for elite well funded teams and Division II for low budget teams.
