It didn't help that he had a freak accident in one DLSU practice according to him, and being a one and done player in the UAAP is just a sample size. He was supposed to be playing for Marinero in the D League together with Malonzo. That could have been a gauge on how he will fare in the PBA.

He definitely improved. I actually followed the last 3x3 tournament. Way more fun than the PBA bubble. He's going to be useful in the pros especially with his improved 3 pt shooting. However, I would be really hesitant to use a high draft pick on him since I only project him to be a role player.

Yup, I heard that his career was in jeopardy and that they thought he got paralyzed. Happy he's playing now but from what I saw from his 3x3 and UAAP stint, he still has a long long way to go. His teammate, Brandon Bates, would be a better prospect once he enters tge draft.

Justin Chua was a starter for a champion team. He only got relegated to a backup role because he played behind Slaughter. His team was stacked but he was always skilled.

I dont think he will forego his final year of eligibility knowing they still have a chance of making atleast the final 4. But However, they have the Philips brothers who might eat some playing time from Balty.

I agree, get trained, play and earn at the same time.........rather than just wait till college ball resumes.

I beg to disagree. Carino staying in San Beda for his final 2 years will be beneficial. You still need to play actual games to get exposed and develop. Training only will not help especially if you dont get to play actual competition.

College basketball will resume 1st quarter of next year. In the NCAA you get to play 18 games in the elims. 1 game in the final four. And a max of 3 games in the finals if you qualify. College teams also get to play in FilOil, PCCL and so. And it also helps Carino that he is now the starting big as Tankoua has exhausted his 5 years.

Look at Jay Pangalanan. 3 years at DLSU. 1 year at CSB. 1 year at Letran. Training ng training with no active competition to show for. Sorry pero "lampa" ang labas nya.

Well.im sure.if he gets drafted in the PBA Special drafts, he will play in P A bubble while there is FIBA tournament...Ipupullout lang sila if there is an incoming tournament...Like this Feb, the Caxets might train in a bubble setup in January to Feb, since wala na FIBA tourney pa, they play inthe PBA muna( March-May/June) and Juky to August practice and prepare for Fiba Asia Cup...Then go back to PBA team again, only to be pulled out in November for the World Cul qualifier...

Carino is poised to have a breakout season before the pandemic hit us. He had a good performance in the PCCL as the starting center. He held up his own with victories over UST (Chabiyo), UP (Akhuetie), Letran (Muyang) by SBU. And also versus Kouame in the Finals. Ateneo had to climb a 4th quarter deficit.

Joining this draft this year will also be a strategic decision by Carino an his management team. There will be a lot of experienced bigs like Rike, Santillan and Muyang to name a few.

Yup. This coming season is his opportunity to shine since there will be no imports. He hasnt made a name for himself yet. Only news that we could recall is yes he transferred to Beda from Ateneo due to acadamic reasons

                          • Troy Rike is a perfect role player. Sets good screens, boxes out well, can defend the paint, not a bad finisher on the inside. With his height he will be serviceable in the pba.

But given the influx of talent this year it does not make sense to get him in the top 5. You get the talented players and trade for a pick in the Low first round to get him

Super agree with this. You draft base on whose the best talent available. Even if your star player plays the same way as your projected draftee. Kung magaling ka talaga coach gagawa ka ng paraan to compensate both players
