I think UP is a big contender in cansino sweepstakes.

Why would anyone cut a vital piece like Cansino?

If we are talking about San Beda here, hindi ba full na rin 3 spot nila? with Oftana, Sanchez, Penuela, Ynot et al.

Kung NC since 3 years pa siya doon. mas ok pa Letran. who also recruited him before joining UST.

The number 1 ranked HS player by NBTC, 6'3-4" Rhyan Amsali of San Beda will more likely play the 3. Amsali and the 6'5 Justine Sanchez are hybrid forwards who could play the 3 and 4.

The fact that Cansino was let go of the team was shocking and bizarre. He must have done something wrong that was detrimental to UST.

Or Cansino was just being relegated and demoted to UST Team B? It will be interesting to hear the official statement of the school and coach Ayo himself.

Why would anyone cut a vital piece like Cansino?

Some insider already confirmed it on twitter right after news broke out. Apparently Ayo directly took him out. Also if I were CJ I'd just apply for the PBA. Depending on what he really did to UST, I think Pido Jarencio would take a chance on him. A 6'2 very young, smart, long combo guard would be pretty good in the PBA. Let him develop in the PBA until he is 25 (which is what the average age of rookies are). An ABL stint for 1 or 2 years wouldnt hurt either. CJ needs to blaze a trail for 20-22 year olds turning pro.

There is a gossip that reason why cansino was cut because coach ayo refused to let him and the other players to see their family and CJ is the one who most vocal , according to story circulating in UST, the whole team is already 2 months in bicol, conducting a secret training camp, ala NBA bubble style

Doesn’t this seem shallow? If this is the only reason he was cut, then Ayo is really toxic, IMHO.

There is a global pandemic, ofcourse you’d want to be with your family. Not everything is about basketball. Besides, how do other collegiate teams keep in shape nowadays? Over preparation naman ito sa UAAP season that we don’t even know kung matutuloy.
