The draw for the Americas tournaments is the same as for AmeriCup but without the last place teams, further illustrating the redundancy of this format.

Why is one of the Asian tournaments in Malaysia, did no one else want to host?

US team to play in the Americas qualifier (10-18 Nov) with this roster:

8 core pool players: Sue Bird, Elena Delle Donne, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Sylvia Fowles, Chelsea Gray, Nneka Ogwumike, Diana Taurasi, A'ja Wilson
4 rounding out players: Diamond DeShields, Arike Ogunbowale, Kelsey Plum and one t.b.d

A slightly different roster will previously play prep games with four Pac-12 schools (2-9 Nov), including the above 8 "locks" plus Seimone Augustus, Layshia Clarendon, Napheesa Collier and Kelsey Plum.

Gray will miss the first game and Plum the first two due to previous commitments. Other exhibitions with NCAA schools are planned next year.

Delle Donne is currently playing the WNBA finals with back problems and Clarendon hasn't played since mid June due to an ankle injury and could be questionable.

Guard Allisha Gray added to the US team, replacing injured Delle Donne. Rounding out the Americas qualifying tournament roster will be Augustus.

US team was stunned by #1 pre-season pick Oregon 93-86 in the final exhibition vs NCAA colleges prior to the Argentina tournament. With Wilson out and Fowles in foul trouble, US women were undersized against Oregon, however their major problem in perspective seems to be the backourt transition from old to new. The Ducks were led by the trio Ionescu, Satou Sabally and Hebard, while redshirt freshman Nyara Sabally is again injured and will probably miss the 2019-20 season.

Canadian team looks very similar to the Americup's, Kia Nurse and Natalie Achonwa are back, while Kayla Alexander and Shay Colley are out injured.

US team had to travel from Buenos Aires to Bahia Blanca by bus after their flight was cancelled.

Great game between Korea and China last night, Korea scoring the last four points to win 81-80 after blowing a double-digit lead.

Exciting stuff in the Asian tournament as New Zealand needed to beat Korea by 12 in the final game, had the necessary lead midway through the fourth quarter but Korea closed the game with a 12-4 run to lose by 4 and advance along with China from the three-way tie. Still a nice win for New Zealand though.

PR gave Canada all they could handle but the Canadians hit their free throws late. PR and Cuba tomorrow for second place in the group. US not looking amazing in either game but too much talent for Argentina today.

Nigeria-Mali and Senegal-Mozambique for the African spots tomorrow.

Amazing Japan ends the tournament with another prestige victory over Australia. After taking a solid lead early in the game Japanese women never relinquished winning 82-69.

Nigeria, as expected, and Mozambique, a surprise, are the two African teams qualified for the 2020 Fiba OQT.
