Default Naturalized Players in the PBA.

I think PBA should be open to the idea of letting our Naturalized players (Blatche and Douthit) as well as those Foreign Students playing in our local collegiate circuit who are willing to undergo naturalization process... It will not only improve the quality of play especially of our bigs but also help in the fitness of our Naturalized player as they can play yearound.. Have a separate Foreign player draft aside from the Rookie draft, let each PBA teams hire one Foreign player with the max salary similar to that of the Locals.. With the abundance of Quality Foreign players in UAAP and even in smaller league, PBA wont run out doreign willing to be naturalized.. Sa UAAP pa lang meron ka Kuoame, Duanga, Tchuente, Bright and even Mbala and Eze... Besides we are also preparing for the future as these mammoth African American guys can marry our local women... Di malayo magkaroon tayo ng Jr. Jumbo MBALA, Jr. Jumbo EZE and Jr. JUMBO KUOAME. Most of foreign imports actually stays here and settle already in Philippines like Sudan Daniels and Pippo NDou.. Besides these foreign players arw not competing slotsagaint local players as they are in different category all along, parang additional import lang... This is the practice in most domestic leagues actually...

I second the motion. Let the isolationists rot in Pacman’s midget league.

Which is a total joke. As some of the PBA vets/greats have said: Filipinos (pure) who either were born or grew up in another country should be given the chance of playing in the PBA and also those who have atleast 1 parent who is a filipino. Not those who doesnt even know anything about the country except the fact they could get a lot of money playing here.

All Filipino citizens, regardless of how they became one, should be allowed to practice their profession in this country. Any rule to the contrary is unconstitutional.

why? it's not the fil-am's fault that the PBA has stupid rules regarding "Filipino blood".

Problem is our leagues won't hire them. Unless they really like it here like Njei, Ola, Su etc then they probably just leave after their collegiate career.

Exactly. That is unconstitutional IMO, not to mention discriminatory. Those guys are also Filipinos.

There are actually very few naturalized Pinoys ballers: I can name Douthit and Blatche; dunno if Kirk Long and Moriah Gingerich count.

The PBA should create a special category to be called "Resident Foreign Players". Resident Foreign Players shall be defined as 1) Filipinos who acquired citizenship by naturalization; and 2) Aliens who have played at least X number of games in a collegiate league in the Philippines and have obtained a college degree from a Philippine school and who have manifested their intention to reside in the Philippines long-term.

Or PBA could do away with the blood requirement and admit naturalized and Filipino heritage players as "locals" without distinction, while retaining "Resident Foreign Player" status for foreigners who played college ball here.

yep. what's the point of affording citizenship if they can't even avail of the basic privileges. pba/mpbl rules is just plain racist

Thats whatnIm looking at actually, just dont know the proper term, so your right Resident Foreign Players, those who have played x number of years in our collegiate league..Although it would be better if they are also willing to be Naturalized and be part of the requirement, at least we know that they want to embrace our culture...

I think number of games played is a better metric, simply because if you play more games, most likely you're better. This will screen off low-quality imports or those who play in ligang labas.

I honestly font even care if theyre naturalized or not, lets just elevate this league, even a xenophobic country like japan and china allows multiple foreigners in their lineups

Who would challenge? Blatche? But probably he earns more in China than what he would earn here?
If na-naturalize si Brownlee, siguro that's the time i-challenge ito ng SMC. Go SMC!
