it's interesting to think that the world thought that the time of both these teams are already done. we are all wrong.

if you think of it, this argentina is relatively young outside scola. if this team can keep their momentum, we will see the second coming of golden generation.

on the part of spain, i think the passing of torch already here with ricky rubio is now co-leading the team with marc gasol. also, they have lots talent from their youth squad.

lot's of admiration from both of these teams.

Well, IMO that won't happen. That golden generation was way more talented. Some might say that overall international bball got worse with lot of top NTs declined more or less, so Argentina might have a shot be among contenders even being weakened, but if to measure talent alone that Argentina from 00s were waaay ahead current one

If Spain doesn't win this, then they underachieve big time. What a magnificent opportunity for the Spaniards having to play Argentina and not the USA, Serbia (again) or France. Cinderella teams like Argentina usually are exposed by the time they reach the final. It is extremely rare that they actually go all the way and win the title.

I think Argentina will win and rather easily.I'm still kinda shocked by how easily they dismantled both Serbia and France.I see no reason why they couldnt do the same to Spain.I dont think any of Argentina's players are top class and winning the trophy wont change my mind. But they do play impressively as a unit and with confidence and unlimited energy on both ends of the floor right now.Maybe their two month preparation paid off. They look like a team in mid season form.

Football teams of Denmark 1992 and Greece 2004 don’t agree with you

Both Argentina and Spain have good success tradition at Fiba events. In this time, Spain has much deeper rotatiton, that’s why they look favorite to me. Secondly, Spanish frontcort can cause big problem for Argentina.

In any scenario, Spanish basketball will win. Spain always feeds Argentina basketball. Teams like Baskonia, Real Madrid and Valencia put their roster in at least one Argentine player and make them elite players. But I still want Argentina to win.

Indeed, but football is a different sport and good organised defense can get you very far. Slovenia winning last Eurobasket may count as such a surprise in basketball.

Overall, not the final I expected to see, far from that. Argentina is definitely the biggest surprise to me and the sweet one, loved Scola's game ever since early Baskonia days, no one else deserves this trophy more than him being so dedicated to NT for years. Have absolutely nothing against Spain, but this time Argentina will have all of my support
And what a way to finish it of for Scola if they actually win, hopefully the Argies can deliver i don't want to see yet another shit final .

this team just might. (no disrespect to Spain)

imo this is no cinderella team. maybe you overestimated other NTs. This team has very talented players that played in our league. They might not be NBA players but they have enough quality to play in our NT. Just wondering, if we get a medal at the 2020 olympic games will you keep saying Argentina is a Cinderrela team ?

This result will have a neat impact on Basketball's hierarchy at the world cup. Unlike soccer, certain top countries no longer exist, so the winner of this tournament will place tied for second* in active world cup victories.

*Note: How many countries are tied for second depends on how many titles you believe Yugoslavia has and how many Serbia has.

Argentina has been a vertiginous team and when they do it, they execute it in block as much in defense as in offensive and for that reason their rivals have remained out of rhythm, for that reason the task of Spain will be to cut this rhythm to Argentina and if they achieve it they will be able to deploy a game but to their comfort, Spain has the option of Marc Gasol that has many more offensive tools that all the centers that I face Argentina, In addition the Iberian team also has good pitchers from the perimeter with which they can open the area, Argentina of course follow the script that has been running throughout the tournament, will be a championship game for which you get to implement your basketball and better define your game strategy.

Flogging? that days are over man. See last few olympics. They won, but flogging?. They won Spain twice with their best players, but, on both finals it was tight to the end.

Yes that's true. And for us (spaniars), as it was saing in this forum, a defeat against Argentina will be, for us, a sweet defeat.
