  • World Cup prediction game?

Hey guys, what do you think about doing a bracket competition for the WC? I don't know if it was done here before, but basically I'm suggesting something like NCAA brackets during the March Madness. Although it's highly unlikely that someone would guess until the final, so ranking different brackets will probably require a point system.

    Sure, go for it.

how does this copy-pasted points system sound?

"Add up your points for each correct pick to get your final score. Using a standard 1-2-4-8-16-32 scoring system, you'll score your bracket out of a possible 192 points. The player with the highest number of points at the end of the tournament wins their pool."

March Madness is an exciting time for fans of college basketball. Some people like to keep up with the action by completing tournament brackets in which they predict the winners of each round of games. At the end of the tournament, the...

    or, to explain better:
    - award 1 point for correct predictions in the first round, 2 in the second round, 4 in the third, 8 in the fourth, 16 in the fifth, and 32 in the sixth and final round.

    or,
    - a point scheme like 1-2-3-4-5-6 to make each round weighted more evenly.

    or,
    - our typical EL prediction game rules (3 points for correct, -2 for incorrect). @christodoulou76, our game master, got time for this?

I'll be running the typical EL prediction game (3 points correct, -2 incorrect). Hope we'll get lots of players this year.

Points system looks good with some tweaking! I'll look into it and try to see what makes the most sense. On the actual predicting side, if it's possible to do a bracket in the Google Forms style it might be possible. I'll try to find something. Otherwise it would be way too complicated for people to write down their predictions as text, many errors would arise imho.
