Even in the Pre-qualifiers last 2018, their perimeter game is still not that impressive considering the level of the competition.

Lots of bricked shots. They were lucky they got away with because no one it the competition were as big and as strong as C. Washington and Mekeli Wesley.

I'd say Chinese-Taipei vs. Guam game is an interesting match. It's like a battle of strength vs. speed.

    • November 21 is fast approaching, just under 3 months left. SBP better name a pool to that we can see at least a semblance of a plan. Hopefully, maraming bata. Complement na lang ang PBA players.

PBA players may not be available to practice with the Cadets if nakaBubble sila.especially if the Bubble Tourney will be in Dubai...

Isang solution na lang dito, kapag named to the pool ang PBA players, the team should release immediately para makapag-practice agad with the cadets.

Or another is maybe name other youngsters to the pool. Last time, Go, Suerte, Nieto twins, Bulanadi, GDL brothers, Baltazar (kahit hindi nag-practice with the team), Thirdy, Dwight, Kobe, Dave, and Tungcab. Mas marami din sana. Maybe a couple incoming UAAP and NCAA rookies para mahasa na rin (at least in practice). Risky solution, though.

I doubt that very much. Knowing the PBA. And of course PBA team owners are thinking of how to somehow make "bawi" of the loses they incurred after several months of lull becoz of this pandemic. Losing some of their superstars to Gilas for a particular period won't be ideal in so far as "profitability" is concerned.

I also doubt that option of setting a PBA "bubble" in Dubai. Its too expensive & as some posters here have pointed out, its a logistical nightmare.

A PBA bubble set-up within Luzon would still be the best option. And speaking of which, in order to have some synchronization with the National team training/preparation, I suggest that the Gilas training be put inside the PBA "bubble".

Guys like Dave Ildefonso, 1GDL, Javi Gomez-De Liano, Tungcab, Kobe Paras, Dwight Ramos, could join PBA special draftees Isaac Go, Bulanadi, Suerte, Mike & Matt Nieto for a full-time Gilas training/practices inside the PBA "bubble". Then the PBA regular Gilas members - Kiefer, Pogoy, Rosario, Erram, CJ Perez, Tratter, Justin Chua, Standhardinger, can attend Gilas practice once or twice a week. Then at around 12 days before the 2nd window, PBA will take a brief break so as to allow the PBA regulars to attend Gilas training on a full-time basis.

That for me would be the most practical, realistic & feasible approach which would be more acceptable to the PBA.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I hope the PBA and SBP can consider this. Somebody close to both organizations better suggest this idea to them. And it will help if the PBA adjusts its schedule to Gilas practices as well.

19 players. 5 more will have to be named in order to complete a 24-man pool. Maybe other college players can be considered like Oftana, Cariño, Ricci, Abando, Cansino, and if allowed, some former Batang Gilas like Tamayo and Amsali. If pros, we kinda have limited options other than the ones mentioned. Amer, Bolick, Almazan, and possibly Ferrer.

Hoping for government's good reply for this (Not expected to priority sports as some government officials are not trusted).. PBA and other professionals leagues are granted to start training because they are under supervision of GAB..

Agree na iba ang priorities (misplaced nga ilan) ng ilang officials, but the SBP better formulate a plan while waiting. Plano lang, at least. Time is precious.

China has younger players than we do.

Still, I like the fact that we went with younger players in the last window. Hopefully, Tab can name a younger pool, tapos supplement lang ng PBA veterans.

Nope, only 1GDL (20) and Dwight (22) should only be considered as young players and the rest are in their prime. Indonesia fielded 3 young players in Derrek (17), Sanjaya (19) & Muhammad (21). It doesn't make sense that ages 23-26 would be considered as young players regardless if it's professional or international tournament. Phil media should've to be blame for this lol

                            • and if only Tab would have full control of the NT (given that some "parties" would follow him-which is very unlikely), he may probably considered some players of u19 fiba wc, then 1GDL, D.Ramos, Thirdy and "hugot" player to play in this qualifiers. But he's probably trying not to create problems with these "parties" as well as the fans since country's tradition is into winning rather than development.

That's why I said "younger," not "young." Matt was 22, Go was 23, and Thirdy was 24. In any case, it was younger compared to the lineups we used to send in the past. Only 2 players were 30 and above, which were Chua and Erram.

But, yeah, players here go professional much at a much later age than most other leagues and still get called "young players."
