He's already 21-22 yrs old.. too old to play college basketball.. he should go straight to the pba.. he will be top 10 pick that's for sure... I would wonder what if a smc teams pick him at the draft? Will they release Ben borja for guam or they will not?

Guam allowing Hong Kong to score 83 points. You think that this kind of defense can win a game against Japan, Korea or even Chinese-Taipei?

Fiesta yung mga quick slashers nila sa mga kick-outs if Guam is that slow to close out hehe

Pwede siya as a one-and-done postgrad student. I think he already graduated from CSU Maritime Academy in the States.

Especially Korea who always love to score by emphasizing defenders' lazy or undisciplined defense.

25 is the age limit for UAAP 😊, one and done will suit him well

If they cant close out Korean shooter quicker, it wont matter. Height will not help them in this case. Thats why Korea beat NZ in there qualifications last 2019.

It's surprising that Guam only led by 20 points when Taipei demolished HK last time

Not a good sign for Guam.

Last time Taipei and HK meet, only 16 pts advantage for Taipei.. Ross and Galloway is not there.. And i see Guam relax a little bit when they put their bench players more in 4th after led by 24.. They can reach that to 30 if they want.. But they need to preserve that to their next game and avoid any injuries..

They will learn for that in later games.. They are basically new in this level.. But the potential is there.. They need to practice more on defense before the main tournament comes in August.. Offense is already there.. They are very talented team.. But they need have more games to build chemistry and cohesion..

BTW I was at that game in Wellington when Nz loss, one of the mistakes NZ tactically did was to try to go down low to take advantage of supposedly size advantage, this took away from Nz perimeter oriented game.
Lesson play style you're good at don't over react cause opposing team might be smaller..

This Philippine team is better than the Ateneo Jones cup team that was competitive vs Korea, I'm not too familiar with this Korea team, but won't be surprise if we win at all

Korea beat Ateneo by 17 pts in the 2018 Jones Cup but the game was closer than what the final score indicated. Ateneo fought well in that game.

The current Korea team has some new players who are replacements to some key players that are not in the current team becoz of injuries & Korea didn't really have a lengthy preparation for this window. So you have to factor in those things. Gilas on the other hand has the benefit of a lengthy preperation this time though you also have to factor in the absence of some key players like Matt Nieto & Rey Suerte becoz of injuries.

Some teams have the tendency to take it easy on defense once they take a big lead. Pag malaki na ang lamang mo & you're so confident hindi na makakabalik yung kalaban, you tend to rest your key players & field your bench, in particular your 10th, 11th & 12th men.

Actually sir Jams, most of the made 3's by Hong Kong came mostly from the first half. The difference maker here was that Guam has Washington and Tai Wesley to grab offensive boards. I doubt if they still have that advantage against better teams in Asia. Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, and China are significantly taller than their previous counterparts in the Pacific Games and Eastern Qualifiers.

question, if Gilas loses all it's 3 games, but has a point difference margin over Indonesia, (they'e plus 30 ?) are they qualified already automatically to Asia cup?
