Anyways, on defense just pack the paint so Ratliffe and the other Korean bigs can't move inside while still being diligent in closing out on shooters, then on offense just let Kai and Kouame pound it inside or pass it out to wide open shooters because the Koreans don't have shot blockers, we're all good.

sad that kids, in the larong kanto setting, would rather dribble, shamgod, crossover, stepback iso or tap board than work on their shooting

I hope heading plays better and go rediscovers his range tomorrow. if they do and our defense is at least as good as d last, will win the rematch.
when heading failed to pass to an open kai sotto underneath, coach tab immediately benched him. we badly need a court general tomorrow.

I hate to say it but Mike Nieto appears to be the more reliable one in playing point than Jordan.

I don't like Abbarientos playing point. He's too ISO heavy.

We honestly might see Ramos playing the point guard a lot more tomorrow.

        • RJ A has the potential to be a good PG, but he has to lose his iso ball mentality and careless shots

i don't generally advocate for negative reinforcement and skill-shaming, but i don't mind the "sige, dribble dribble dribble" commentaries of sportscasters whenever they see a player with the ball who struts around the half court looking to score.

This is where we miss a PG in the mold of a LA Tenorio or Jimmy Alapag, hope one of these Gilas guys developed into a court general by 2023

rj has more potential on being that playmaker as he is a more natural passer whenever he decides he will not shoot d ball himself.

sj is really more like cabagnot, he can facilitate but he's really more about shooting and scoring.

matt nieto is d best facilitator and positional defender among the three. but he's also not a heavy assist man, he's more like racela.

He's honestly better suited for 3x3 tournaments like Fortea.

I don't remember Tenorio being effective against Korea. I just remember he was too small to make an impact on the game. His couldn't drive because he was too small. So he would stop his dribble in the mid-range and would be in trouble. He couldn't hit a 3 also because he was not a deep 3 pt shooter. His bigger defenders just sagged off him and easily recovered. The worst problem I remember when LA was there was he was too small to defend against his man. The Koreans would just drive and kick, just lobbing passes to the perimeter. LA was too short to bother those kickouts. So I don't get this nostalgia for this guy internationally.

Olsen was a good defensive guard at least. Same with Matt. Our bigger guards will learn to be better PGs. Matt and other smaller PGs are useful until we play Serbia and other bigger teams. Dwight and other bigger guards need to step up as PG then.

                      • So Zhou Qi is in Clark pala. Zhou looks like an OLD man.

Kai and Zhou share the same body frame and built, pati posture ( kuba, or slouching) Zhou looks like he never improved his slouch, and his "kuba" became more prominent. So i hope Kai is watching because he may look like him if he lose control with his training.

But Zhou, even if he gained like 20-30 pounds is very much effective, in fact he led China in efficiency vs Japan with 25. He is still skilled even if there's an obvious drop in his explosiveness and athleticism. Maybe that added weight helped in bullying the shorter Japanese frontline.

My biggest hope is that PH basketball (both admins and fans) will be truly united by then, but as things are now, there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

The PBA is just salty a bunch of college kids were able to do something even their players could not do after 2013: to beat Korea. Yung mga PBA players nga, tambak sa Korea eh. Paanong nangyari na mga college player lang pala ang makakatalo sa Korea?
BCAP must also be salty. Tab did with a bunch of college kids what Yeng couldn’t do with an all-PBA plus 1 NBA lineup.

indonesia has improved clearly the only problem is their depth. they have quality players now but the bench is really the problem. jawato and derick michael will adress those issues but still not enough to be honest. they need at least two more of same quality as jawato and derick.

Chalk it up to NBA's influence, even when that league's metagame these days revolve around shooting.

Filipinos' exposure to basketball is just the PBA and NBA. Filipinos barely have access to other leagues - especially European leagues.

But with Thirdy and Kai abroad, we'll probably see more broadcasting of foreign leagues
