Junmar could be the next great Center for the Philippines. About time, since Asi only has very few years left.

JF is still 18 right? So there's a possibility that will he grow more. Maybe add an inch or 2..
Can someone post the complete stats of JF?? rebounds? blocks? even if it's just estimates...Last edited by rikhardur; 01-16-2008, 11:44 AM. Reason: Posts merged: short time between consecutive postsPlay Cyberdunk: The best basketball you can play out side the NBA

is it confirmed that his 6'7? Or another case of overhyping...
I'll still root for Greg Slaughter coz you can't teach height. I hope the team that he's now in should help him develop ...
We already have a lot of 6'7 and some are playing SF and PF. Maybe they should train Junmar to play 3 and 4. This is the main problem of our college or amateur coaches they'll force guys from 6'5 and above to play center instead of developing them to a swingman. A lot of coaches system are obsolete good only for 80's and 90's basketball....SBP should address this problem coz there are a lot of good players not playing their natural position for their height and a big example of this is Jervy Cruz...
Jervy Cruz might be a case of an overhyped player because of playing from a prestigious league (UAAP) which has only 8 or 9 teams...
There are already handful of overhyped young PBA players coming from UAAP or NCAA like Intal, Kramer, Marvin Cruz, Bono, Rich Alvarez, Artadi, etc....How can we gauge if they're that good when the collegiate leagues here are divided....

ust a thought..junmar fajardo's stint in this semi-pro league (i assumed this is semi-pro because of the presence of ex-pros like gilbert demape) will make him ineligible in the big collegiate leagues like UAAP and NCAA.
Am i right?

Originally posted by thadzonlineLogically if you have a lineup of 6'1, 6'2, 5'10, 6'0 and 6'4, you will make the 6'4 guy play center right? there is just not enough big men for schools locally and so many wingmen who can actually play 3 or 2 are forced to play 4 or 5 because it follows that you cant make the 5'10 guy play that position. The solution is to find more big men so this guys can play their natural positions rather than play center. and oh by the way, GS vs. JF? no brainer.. and if you want to see him in UAAP or NCAA, he already used up 2 years eligibility including now, he has to sit out 1 season for transfer so that should leave 2 more seasons but I bet, UC will do everything to keep him
Then what happens to the 6'4 center after college. A one-dimensional player who was trained to rebound and score on the post...That is why the coach's philosophy here are oboslete because it hinders the young 6'5 and above guys from developing and playing their natural position.
have you ever watched the Yonsei University Korean team that played here. They have no true centers and what did they do, they let their players play to their natural position which makes every player capable of scoring anywhere in the court be it in 3 point shot or 2.....Heck, I would even bet all of my money that no college team here in RP can beat that Yonsei team...
If those damn college coaches set aside their pride and observe how college ball is played around the world and not rely on that basketball philosophy whom they have learned from their forefathers so that they may know that basketball is also evolving.
How many tall young players have been left out and set aside because of this damn coaches who prefer 6'5, 6'4 centers whom others think are prospect for our RP team. Damn!!!Last edited by ros; 01-16-2008, 04:49 AM.

Fajardo Powers UC With 50-pt Game
By Gabby Malagar
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Six-foot-seven giant Jun Mar Fajardo had his most dominating game so far - 50 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots - to help UC-Aspac Bank eke out a come from behind 108-100 overtime victory over USPF-R. Lapid’s Chicharon in last night’s game of the Reinforced Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.
Fajardo scored at will in the overtime period, including a trademark slam with 19.4 ticks left and UC leading 108-99. Fajardo was whistled for a technical for hanging in the ring but the game was already in the bag for UC.
The slotman had his second scoring spree in the tournament. Last Sunday he scored 40 points in UC’s loss to frontrunner USJ-R/Bibbo Hotdog. This time around, Fajardo made sure his efforts would not go to waste.
UC was looking at a 76-57 disadvantage in the fourth quarter when Kelvin Juliane scored seven straight points to ignite a 12-2 binge that closed the gap, 69-78.
Another crippling 11-2 run, with Juliane again leading the attack, tied the score at 88, late in the fourth quarter.
USPF then squandered their chance to win by blowing an inbound pass that paved the way for the extra period.
With UC getting the momentum, USPF could only watch in awe as Fajardo dominated the game to give UC its sixth win in eight games. The loss dropped USPF to a 1-6 slate.
The scores
UC/Aspac(108)- Fajardo 50, Juliane 22, Abella 14, Abatayo 9, Agas 5, Flanco 3, Ceniza 2
USPF/R. Lapid’s Chicharon (100)—Nemenzo 23, Rogado 19,Avila 12, Gulane 11, Sereño 10, Rivera 6, Tabada 5, Monterde 4, Halftime: 36-47 OT. 88-all Reg.
