Aspac Dumps Metro Gaisano in Partners Cup

ASPAC Bank-University of Cebu had to move heaven and earth before surviving a last minute surge to beat the beefed-up Metro Gaisano-Cebu Institute of Technology Wildcats, 85-83, Tuesday night at the Inayawan Gym.

It was a seesaw battle as teams took turns taking the lead the entire game and the teams were even at the end of the third period at 58-all.

However, CIT, led by Karenrick dela Cerna and Sherwin Resilla, jumped off to a 12-0 run to register the biggest lead in the game, 70-58.

Aspac-UC was headed for the dumps until shooting guard Allain Abellanosa and 6-foot-7 beanpole Junmar Fajardo took charge.

Abellanosa scored nine points to slice CIT’s lead down to 71-75. Fajardo, meanwhile, completed consecutive three-point plays to hand UC the lead, 79-78 with 1:15 left.

Jansen Abella’s and Kelvin Juliane’s back-to-back baskets put Aspac Bank further up front, 84-78, with just a few ticks left.

In an effort to stop Aspac’s mammoth center, CIT’s reinforcement Jerry Jaca fouled Fajardo during an attempt at a dunk.

Fajardo bungled the dunk but his heavy frame bent the ring, causing a momentary stand still as it needed to be pushed back up.

Juliane capped the final tally as he scored three of four charities in the waning seconds for UC’s fourth win in five outings. Abellanosa led Aspac Bank with 26, while Fajardo scored 22.

Mediocre GS already has a thread of his own. As for Rino Berame, he hasn't been active lately.

yes, JF is the talk of the town after showing his scoring prowess in the games he played. 1st game = 24 pts, 2nd game 27 pts, 3rd game 30 pts, 4th game 27 pts and 5th game = 22 pts. and you have to think that this kid is just coming off an injury that sidelined him the entire 2007 cesafi season.

he's got good timing on his jump, but he is just to skinny as of now that he is just shove around by some veterans and older opposing players in getting the rebounds. he is a good defensive player, even berame is having a hard time against him when they played against each other in FJ's rookie season.

as much as i want this to happen.. i think the current policy of CESAFI will prevent JF to play for CESAFI if he joins the national team... so i dont think he'll agree..

to those who've seen him play what kind of game does he have? is he quick and athletic, just average or slow? does he have good post moves or just rely on his height to score down low? how about outside shots, does he have some range? does he have good hands or butter fingers? how about freethrows? is he good defensively? sorry about the questions(too many?? ), i just want to have an idea of how he really is. you all know how hype leads to disappointment when the true product is finally revealed and it doesnt live up to expectations, i'm just trying to not fall into that trap

based on the junmar pictures that i saw ( though not game conditions). he doesnt look like he's skinny at all and he looked rather big boned. I hope he developed into a carmelo anthony type of player: a heavy framed face up player

                              Who is better?
                              Fajardo or Paredes?

Because coach franz badly wanted the service of Paredes.
