USA-Mexico was postponed to Wednesday because of travel delays suffered by the Mexican team.

USA-B went through the usual selection process starting from 152 hopefuls, 33 invitees and the rest applicants. All selected players come from the invitees group, evenly split among 2021 & 2022 class. Top ranked are 2021's Olivia Miles, Amari DeBerry and 2022's Lauren Betts. It's a very tall team, topped by 6-7 (2 m) Betts and 6-5 (1.95) DeBerry, average height is slightly above 6-1 (1.86). Interesting to see if talentwise this new generation is close to the last U16-17.

Another team to watch is Canada, but yesterday no live streaming was available here. Anyway, all Canadian players scored in easy win vs Ecuador with obvious inside dominance in scoring & rebounding. To follow against stronger teams.

USA-ES was the biggest mismatch I have seen since they started streaming these games, maybe a game against Costa Rica a few cycles ago was comparable...US did not play amazingly by any means but still could have won by well over 100 points if they really wanted to. Doesn't look like there will be much competition except for maybe Canada.

US-Chile game was actually good for about a quarter but then the score went from 30-18 to 90-23. Chile's 21 fourth quarter points came from six threes and three free throws by a player fouled shooting a three, the US zone defense needs some work.

Ecuador-Chile and Mexico-Puerto Rico are the two interesting quarterfinals, I wonder if Mexico will rest their starters against the US tomorrow.

Mexico did a better job rebounding than the previous US opponents.

Chile outscored Ecuador 23-8 in the fourth quarter to qualify for the WC and set off extended celebrations, quite the opposite of their women's soccer team earlier today. Would have been pretty incredible to see Ecuador qualify for a World Championship.

Puerto Rico somewhat lucky not to be called for a three-shot foul 30 feet from the basket at the end of their game.

USA led 24-2 after the first quarter of the championship game. Will have to wait until next year to see how this compares to the best US youth teams, but it's clearly a very strong group.

Gold medal game was no match after Q1, great defense and fine team play were US girls' strengths. Olivia Miles showed some high-prized plays and awesome passing ability for her age, would have deserved at least All-Tournament honor imo. Though very young (2022 class), long post Lauren Betts looks promising as well.

Interesting to see the comparable level of the next Fiba Euro U16 (Aug 22-30) and Asia/Oceania (date tbd).
