    Default 2019 Fiba U19 Women's World Cup

2019 Fiba U19 World Cup will be held from July 20-28 in Bangkok, Thailand.

    Preliminary round groups:

2018 U18 qualifying zones winners are China, Germany, Mali and USA. Group A looks rather weak as compared to the others.

Reigning champ Russia didn't qualify for this year event. Colombia, Germany and Mozambique are new entries.

Canada has already announced a 12-player roster, mainly including ex U17 WC team members rather than U18's:

USA Basketball has invited 30 players for May 16-19 tryouts:
    https://www.usab.com/news-events/new...-invitees.aspx

It's a good mix of U18 and U17 pool players who starred in last year's international events.

    Australia May 5-7 tryouts squad:

Though finishing just third at the Asia-Pac qualifier, Gems can rely on a large pool players including ex U17 WC team Heal, Palmer, Emma-Nnopu, Scanlon etc.

    US team named:

    Francesca Belibi (Regis H.S.)
    Aliyah Boston (Worcester Academy, H.S.)
    Cameron Brink (Southridge H.S.)
    Paige Bueckers (Hopkins H.S.)
    Caitlin Clark (Dowling Catholic H.S.)
    Queen Egbo (Baylor U.)
    Naz Hillmon-Baker (Michigan U.)
    Rhyne Howard (U. Kentucky)
    Jordan Nixon (Notre Dame)
    NaLyssa Smith (Baylor U.)
Celeste Taylor (Long Island Lutheran, H.S.)
    Hailey Van Lith (Cashmere H.S.)

Some surprise here, as just three 2018 U18 players have been confirmed and the roster looks more built around U17/16 previous squads. However, 2018 U17 WC All-Five and #1 HS recruit Haley Jones didn't make the cut, while U17 MVP Jordan Horston didn't attend the trials.

Last moment change on US team roster, Fw NaLyssa Smith (Baylor) out, G Diamond Miller (HS/Maryland) in. Though Miller already played internationally with the U16 team, the new roster w/out Smith is losing size and the best scorer from the U18 team, while just four players with college experience are remaining.

    Germany final roster announced:
    Emily Bessoir
    Helena Eckerle
    Leonie Fiebich
    Julia Förner
    Eléa Gaba
    Luisa Geiselsöder
    Meret Kleine-Beek
    Magdalena Landwehr
    Pauline Mayer
    Marie Reichert
    Nina Rosemeyer
    Jessika Schiffer

Notably missing is 2018 U18 Fiba Euro MVP Nyara Sabally, who probably is still in rehab from the knee surgery she underwent last September.
As many as eight finalists are currently playing at the U18 Fiba Euro and will have just few days to recover from fatigue.
Germany is planned to play USA in pre WC friendly on July 18.
