both are stubborn as hell and will not change it's opinion regardless of the facts presented by the other side.
the difference is that Pao has bigger numbers of fans here and it is therefore easier for a bigger group to impose it's opinion as the right one.
but both will hold it's ground.
and the hatred presented on the forum (but I guess it is like that also in real life) between the two is out of this world.

for someone who comes and reads this and, more or less knows the situation, the conclusion is that the only loser in this situation will be greek basketball in general.
even Pao fans will lose their interest in greek league, without Oly, after a while.
let's face it, Aris, Paok, AEK etc. are not Olympiakos.
there isn't a winner in this situation.

p.s. hopefully we won't see Oly in ABA league.
or if croatian clubs leave ABA league (just a wish) then I wouldn't care less about the league.

olympiakos fans are really funny saying they are happy about leaving the league, while the only thing that has happened is that aggelopouloi have gone bankrupt and their transfers this summer will be chrysikopoulos, kaklamanakis, koniaris, octavious ellis etc. it will be funny watching them laugh at that time

Nonsense. How many oly fans have criticized their administration and how many pao fans have done the same?
If you had read previous posts, you could see that pao fans (as a whole) are not happy with oly's decadence. Saras excluded.

The only reason you have to throw this aphorism is your general dislike about Greek teams and Greek fans, as you have already shown many times in the past.

Do they need to be on equal footing to criticize the unsportsmanlike and ridiculous behavior of each of them?
At least, they have one thing in common. They appeal to the sheep of their clubs.

it could be so, maybe you are right.

but then again, with no success of greek teams in the recent years, the cockiness of greek fans has also disapeared on the forum, as has also a certain number of greek members, so I don't remember getting into a "fight" with greek fan here for a while.
if it makes you feel better feel free to think that, although it was not an intention here.

Are they still going to play in Euroleague though? If they do, it's not really important for them other than letting Pao to win 2 national league championships more, it's not like the rivalry between us and Efes (13 vs 9) because they can't reach to Pao's championships number anyway (37 vs 12).

I hope that in the nearest future, some big clubs as Pao, Efes, Fener, MTA, Milano, Real and Barca, will quit their League and will play in a Mediterraniean League +EL, with no rules and sticks in the wheels from the domestic L

Cant even pay a player that was signed on peanuts and played only 2 months. It's the referee's fault.

What is happening in Greece at the moment is not only bad for Greek basketball, but also for European basketball. Because this decreases the chances of Rick Pitino staying at PAO. The EL having a hall of famer at Pao is a great asset. It would be interesting to see what this coach can do after one or two full seasons at the bench of a team like Pao.

If Pitino does not extent his contract, the heroics of both Greek teams may be responsible for that. They are both shooting themselves in the foot.

He has another year to run on his contract. It looks like he will stay if he doesn't find another offer. I don't think he's happy with Oly not turning up to games but obviously he still wants to be paid. Oly would be happy for him to leave as they hold him responsible for all the players he brought to the club that offered way less than expected.

    Oly not paying anyone anything.

EuroLeague Basketball referred Olympiacos to the Finance Panel

EuroLeague Basketball announced that Olympiacos is monitored by the Finance Panel regarding overdue payments.

The complaint filed by the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA).

    Per the competition’s announcement:

“The Euroleague Basketball Management Control Commission (MCC) has referred Olympiacos Piraeus to the Finance Panel for further monitoring of the club’s compliance status with the Financial Stability and Fair Play Regulations (FSFPR) for overdue payables, which are contained in the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.

The regulation whose compliance is in question concerns payments to Olympiacos players by the club. The case arose from a complaint filed with the MCC by the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA).

The proceeding has been opened on the basis of an alleged infringement of the criteria established in Article 3.a) of the Financial Stability and Fair Play Regulations.

The MCC’s decision to refer the case to the Finance Panel means that the latter would be expected to issue a decision within the next 30 days, in accordance with Article 33 of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.”

It looks like The Angelopoulos screwed the club up financially, and the club is not fit to compete even in the greek league. they don't want the club to be a doormat in top competition next season so they try to make it appear like they are fighting against corrupt Greek Basketball, refs, scumbag pao etc to get fan support. they are intentionally moving the club out of competition and successfully passing this as an honorable act. it is clear from the comments that the fans have bought it.

Disclaimer, I do not have much knowledge about Greek basketball. I do however find myself thinking the exact same as above. I think it is a travesty for Greek and European basketball that a team like Olympiakos cannot meet its financial obligations and try to pass it on as the fault of the Greek federation, the officials and Panathinaikos... It will be very interesting to see, how the Greek league and Euroleague will respond to this. Can Panathinaikos justify their spendings without Olympiakos? If not, then how will affect the Greek league? Can the Euroleague substitute Olympiakos with a team of the same quality and fan base? Will they maybe even keep them due to the 10 year contract? So many unanswered questions.
