It is certainly not the 90s, but it is a respectable league. It's just that Pao and Oly where better than the rest and it showed. They were traditionally much better than most teams in Europe.

ofc it is respectable, it is greek league after all. even if the teams other than pao and oly do nothing, they produce talent.

but we gotta admit that the competion is shitty. if you look at the last ten years of Greek League you will see PAO and Oly. I have to compare it with the Turkish League, sorry, we have 5 different champions and some other runner ups.

one thing is certain the departure of the either one of PAO and Oly will doom the league. I hope Oly's departure will have the opposite effect so other teams can rise up again.

Really? I just see foreigners playing in other greek teams. The only prospects that I know are Kalaizakis the older, Rogvapolous and a guy named Manzoukas who made 15 points in a CL game. Thats what i cant understand. Greek teams are not competitive but have no prospect to raise. I think this has to do with the aging population of greece. They dont have young guys who want to play basketball.

        • Let's not jump the gun. Oly's EL contract is not currently under danger. They will be in the EL next year. The only way they can be forced out is the other 10 "permanent" members agree to kick them out.

If worse come to worse they can still afford a 5-6 mil budget. AEK can't afford that even now.

If the government doesn't intervene to save them from A2, then they will start in A2 with -6 points penalty for refusing to play in A1 play offs.

You can also add Moraitis and Tsalbouris from AEK and Rogavopoulos from Oly.

It is true their is a talent crisis in Greek basketball especially for established players aged 21-28. Only ones around and good enough for the NT are Papapetrou, Papagiannis, Thanasis (let's face it he plays mainly because of his brother) and Mitoglou.

Milutinov is not a feee agent. He has one year left and 1.5 million buyout for nba teams. Printezis is the earning 1.3m/year

But he's not really earning that if they aren't actually paying him, is he?

printezis? no he is not earning that and there was a voice document from him talking to his teammates declearing himself out of the team (he didnt play some games in greece and the "excuse" was injury) because he has not been paied for months. that came out at february and maybe they gave him some money to stop his strike. most probably the only one being paied regularly is spanoulis. the rest not

It looks that croatian clubs are leaving Croatia.

Wow. Never saw this coming! Will they play half games in Slo and other half in Cro?

Oly is very unlikely to play in the ABA because the teams pretty much want Oly to pay to play in their league and with some discussion that were had they mentioned Oly having to pay the league a % of their TV contract.

For Oly it's been amateur hour, they came out saying they will play in the ABA before even discussing with the ABA first. The relegating themselves to the A2 division which means they have no leverage to negotiate with the ABA. They are now kicked out of ESAKE now which means they can't make proposals for anything to change the game or rules. A1 is controlled by ESAKE (the teams consisting of A1) whilst A2 is controled by the Greek Basketball Federation (which Oly hates and wants changed). All this so they avoid losing another league title and embarrassing loses to Panathinaikos.

They let out that they are offering Sloukas 5mil euros for 3 years when they haven't paid their players in 9+ months. Yet Oly fans believe Sloukas might be coming back. Sheep.

I don't understand this move. I really don't. I assume all they are doing is merging the best players. Nothing else. I'd be pissed if I was a Cedevita fan.

They will merge 2 clubs in new one, Cedevita Olimpija based in Ljubljana. Point is to have 1 better club with double budget and a center for young players in Ljubljana. How realistic all this is, is another question. On paper looks promising.
Cedevita has very small fan base.

It does appear that you don't know what you're talking about. We should have left the greek league a long time ago, before Childress' era.
