    Default Denver Nuggets Thread

Year 1 of the post-Anthony after the lockout. Last season, the Denver Nuggets finished the season with 50 wins and secured the fifth seed in the Western Conference playoffs against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nuggets eventually fell in five games.

Prior to the lockout, the Brazilian center opted not to sign an immediate contract extension and instead chose to become a unrestricted free agent. Both Kenyon Martin and JR Smith are also unrestricted free agents.

They brought back Andre Miller from a trade on the NBA 2011 draft. Miller joins the veterans Al Harrington, Chris Andersen and Kousta Koufus to shore up the front. These veterans join a nucleus of young talent starting with the sharp shooting Italian forward Danilo Gallinari, the emerging back-court of Ty Lawson and Arron Afflalo. Coupled with Russian bigman Timofey Mozgov. Wilson Chandler, a dependable man in George Karl's lineup is retained despite being a restricted free agent.

The Nuggets have cap space this summer and may choose to hold on to that cap space for the summer of 2012. The Nuggets are shaping to be an NBA Team based on collective talents as the catalysts minus a conspicuous superstar.

Default Catching up with the Nuggets Players

Kosta Koufus - To play for Greece in the 2011 Eurobasket.

Ty Lawson - Signed a one year contract with the Lithuanian team, Zalgiris Kaunas. The contract has an Escape Clause where Lawson will return to the Nuggets if the labor negotiations are resolved.

Wilson Chandler - Chandler's agent said recently that his client had received a $1.7 Million from a Chinese Basketball Association team. But with the CBA ruling out escape clauses, Chandler is not eligible due to him being a restricted free agent.

Timofey Mozgov - Will play for the Russian National Team in the 2011 Eurobasket.

Danilo Gallinari - Will play for Italy in the 2011 Eurobasket

Martin and Nene were a good defensive front-court. Both are currently free agents.

Former Denver Nuggets bigman Kenyon Martin has signed with Xinjiang Guanghui of the Chinese Basketball Association. News has it that the contract is the largest ever in the league's standard.

If Kenyon Martin cannot help in the playoffs, Denver will not go far. Martin is the key for them. If healthy, Denver WILL beat LA. IMO, both Denver and Dallas could/will beat LA if they play a seven game series.

Is it official because reports yesterday were saying he will be signing?

Contract is approx. $3 Million U.S/season and without an out-clause as per the CBA latest announcements regarding the signing of any active NBA players.

On another note look at how many Nuggets have left Denver to play outside the NBA !!! (4 in China and Timofey in Russia with Khimki)

    1) J.R Smith
    2) Wilson Chandler
    3) Melvin Ely
    4) Kenyon Martin
    5) Timofey Mozgov

Nene is still a free agent as far as I know.

I think Martin's contract is nearing completion as both parties according to USA Today have agreed mutually on the contract. All that is left is to for Martin to sign it.

With the recent Amnesty Clause being integrated into the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Nuggets will look to cut Al Harrington off the salary cap or re-structure the contract with a fair amount.

    Refreshing Khalid80's list:

    6) Ty Lawson

One has to wonder if the lockout ends as a labor deal is reached in the time of the mid-season, the Nuggets' chemistry is compromised like a lot of NBA teams. Also, the Nuggets have roster deficiencies that need to be addressed.
