like the 3x3 team that won a gold, we can escape some defensive lapses because talent wise we are ahead.. but those defensive lapses won’t cut outside asean ball..

yeah, but i think, regardless of opponents, gilas should stay sharp defensively. we are the constant target practice of our opponents - from palestine in 2015, korea in 2017, kazakhstan in 2018, this year's world cup opponents and now our asean neighbors. all these teams have a field day from the behind the arc against us. there is a problem in our defensive schemes that may trace its roots in our local leagues.

Yes. That Vietnam SEABA team is light years away from this SEA games team.

I think if we have CS, Japeth, JF and Greg we can outlast teams as long as our guards and forwards can score and defend. Each of those 4 can exert maximum energy on D and O because they know they dont need to play their PBA minutes.

The next step would be find the guards to replace the ineligibles. The next after that would be getting SFs

We need a young 6'8+ wing scorer as an NP who will be able to play alongside Edu and Kai in the future

    McCollough can play 3, 4, 5. He's also like 25 and about 6'10".

Exactly and he already said he wants to play for us (probably because of his love for jollibee lol).

and relatively young. my only issues about him are his defense and his court vision that both can be addressed.

If he had any of those he’d be in the NBA. We can’t really be choosy he’s as good as it gets.

Honestly he is a long wingman like allmight said (6'10 range). Most small forwards in Asia are 6'7 range so he is long and athletic enough to defend them

    23 for 23 front

    C - Kai 7'2 or 5 na?
    PF - Edu - 6'10"
    SF - CM - 6'10"

Gilas can upset or keep up with many high level teams with this 3.

BTW, he's one of the coaching candidates for Gilas.
I took a look at this and the reson why Daleo was berating cos Thailand can't completely pull away from Cambodia. Haha. Ohuh Thailand, Vietnam's breathing down your neck.

Thailand 3 point defense looks better than Gilas. They were closing out but the Cambodians kept hitting a couple of off balanced treys. Haha.

Thailand's defense a little lax this time. Only 15 point lead in the 4th. But I still think Dierker will play 40 minutes against them. The drop off after him is too big.

80-69 for the Thais. expect both Vietnam and Thailand to step up in the semis. probably the most exciting match of this tournament, hopefully it's carried on TV.

Whats new... Playing to the level of the opponent.

Zero defense even against the star player.
