I really like this 2019 NBA Champions - Raptors. This proves that we DO NOT NEED TO CONFORM to what is the prevailing international game nowadays.
this RAPTORS team showed us that we need to find a way on how we can be effective as a team, RATHER THAN imitating other international teams approach to the game.
Who would have thought that a SUPPOSED DINOSAUR CENTER in Marc Gasol can still remain effective, competitive and relevant to the Raptors run to the finals.
Who would have thought that a DIMINUTIVE, almost midget-like Van Vleet and Lowry, can help carry this RAPTORS team to the championship.
Ultimately, the Raptors made use of the right mix of players, and emphasizing their own strength in order to get their FIRST championship.
My point then is, even if a PG is below 6' ft. if he can be considered world class, and can also somehow carry its own weight in defense, then there should be no problem getting that guy in GILAS.
If a PF/ C is a traditional back-to-the-court player and usually had a slower pace than other bigs, but can definitely be as effective in attacking and helping in the defense, then there should be no problem getting that "slow poke".
Finally, I hope, our Gilas Team can devise a plan wherein our uniqueness as a team will be used as an advantage against other teams INSTEAD of looking at it as a disadvantage.

If we will look back in history, the typical Really NBA Great Centers, who were not named Russel ( more of a specialist ), you would notice that they have a back to the basket post moves; a facing the ring moves; a mid-range and long range jumpers; can attack to the ring; and have some semblance of good passing.
Ofcourse people like the Great Shaq may not fit the bill to the T, but he is Shaq! what can we do hehehehe
Other really great centers have a semblance of this kind of game I mentioned, and Marc Gasol fit that bill. Since he is an international player, it is but natural that he should know how to shoot the three. these things are usually normal qualities of a typical International Center so hindi na bago yan.
As to the midgets -- well those two proved that they were really great so okay lang na nasa lineup talaga sila.

marc and pau are not your traditional centers. while i agree they still have the skills typical to traditional centers, they also possessed of a modern big. marc is pretty mobile for his 7'1 frame. can junmar and greg same with marc in terms of mobility? no.
marc and pau still to the definition of stretch 5. they are no jurassic centers.Attack

Going to the toronto model,Given the right dose of athleticism, length, size, quickness, skills and smarts,we could actually compete against the world's best. However Siakam may not be an elite athlete in the NBA but he is at least imo an abovev average athlete in the NBA.Ibaka is another above average athlete although he was not as athletic as he was. Those guys are around 6'8 and 6'10.what i mean is that we dont need to be
very tall to beat teams in the world stage."How small ball works: Tall Skilled beats small skilled every time, but small skilled beats tall stiff every time" - Kevin McHale
