UST's 1-2 punch will be Cansino and Abando.

The recent additions to Aldin Ayo’s team have been significant contributors. The biggest and perhaps most significant newcomer is 23-year-old Benin-born 6’6” forward-center Soulemane Chabi Yo, who is ready to go after sitting out a year’s residency after transferring from Colegio de San Lorenzo.

There is scoring sensation Mark Nonoy from the UST Tiger Cubs, 6’2” Rhenz Abando, who transferred from Philippine College of Science and Technology, and Brent Paraiso, who played for Ayo in La Salle.

San Beda's imports Tankoua and Noah are just 6'4.5 and 6'1.5, respectively. I doubt if Bates would have made a difference. He is just big but with no consistent significant contribution.

In the off-season tourney 2 years ago, SBU played all-Filipino without Tankoua and beat a DLSU team with Ben Mbala. Last year, SBU again beat DLSU with Bolick hitting clutch shot after clutch shot.

No sense in giving excuses for a loss. It's just a pre-season game anyway so take the loss and just find room for improvement. Excuses are blinders. They prevent the team from getting better.

I wasn’t giving excuses for the loss. I was just praising coach Byrd for his rotations since they only had 1 big man available and the rest of the team was pretty small.

Expected that. Undersized SF still lacking in shooting and handles. But in the college level his tenacity and hustle were enough.

It was kind of expected tbh. Even in the Philippines a 6’1 sf with his skills won’t survive in the lab. I posted this before but I find it very satisfying that the top 3 picks in the draft were all the best in their draft class.

I was surprised he got picked so early. TBH UP's run boosted his stock

He is not even 6-1 , measured a shade under 5-11.

it was more of a thank you pick but he will have his chance its just that he is a type of guy who likes to get his rhytym inside and no way with get points with big imports out there.. he doesnt have that consistent 3 pointer that mike digregorio had

Not sure if this interests you, but Ateneo's Team B has an exploit of its own

Ateneo will still dominate this new look DLSU team. Tab-Thirdy-Angelo will be a formidable team to beat.

A lot of Team B players can start in other UAAP teams. Mallillin comes to mind. Jury's still out on Muru.
    Keep running, big boy.
