"Based on our guidelines, we can review the play. And if our findings is that the player did the action with intention to hurt, we can upgrade the non-call or make sanctions," he said.

How about the Akhuetie-stockton??.. isn't that uppercut throw a more obvious one. Fall on deaf ears?double standard?

Well it's unfortunate that incident didn't get the attention from UAAP but the important thing now is that those type of behavior get punished. This is another traits including (balasubas, sigasigaan,) that we Filipinos should removed not only in baskeball but in our culture in general.

This might sound like a radical idea to some but the UAAP should have a proper concussion protocol. Thankfully Will Navarro didn't suffer anything serious(afaik) but the league should still make efforts to protect its players. These guys are all still kids after all. The league should always have a doctor on hand and have him/her make immediate return to play decisions rather than leave it to each teams PT's. Hold team and coach responsible for players with repeated offenses leading to supplemental discipline. Hits to the head should be an automatic review no matter what the context is. A standardized protocol makes it fair for all the teams as compared to the current system wherein the UAAP seems to nitpick cases that should be reviewed based on the outrage seen around the league and online.

I thought there already was a league doctor (see: s81 admu vs up finals, game 2)

The schools who acquired high-profiles one-and-dones are out of the playoff picture namely DLSU (malonzo, meeker, laput), UE (rey suerte) and Adamson (Val Chauca). These late additions may have messed up their team's cohesion and chemistry.

While the schools who maintained the same roster throughout the preseason (DLeague, FilOil, etc) are inside the magic four namely Ateneo, Santo Tomas, FEU and UP. The Maroons although have a late addition one-and-done Mantilla, he's not part of the regular rotation.

The late additions of the one-and-dones only brought publicity. But never gave them the playoff results their communities were aspiring of.

It also proves a point that there is no short cut or band aid solution when it comes to winning.

Was supposed to post this opinion some time after round 2 ends, as DLSU still has a chance. Maybe there won't be any need by the board to on this, since the risks have been highlighted this season

Even if it's non conclusive that it is intentional, it certainly a careless and dangerous movement. I noticed a lot of Pinoy ballers even high school unecessarily exagerately flair their arms and legs out., while hard to prove consclusively if contact was intentional, it is very obvious that is a dangerous and careless way to play that can result in harm to players around . Basically this has to be reprimanded players cannot play in away that is really prone to hitting someone . It sort of like driving uncontrolably at 100 miles per hour swerving and changing lanes and an accident happens , one can argue it wasn't intentional, while maybe true the way one was driving to be prone to injury of others is certainly intentional

if im not mistaken this is when bright shoved stocktons face into the floor. well he kinda deserve it when he undercut kobe. had kobe injured his knee it wouldve threaten his whole basketball career.

UAAP officials must keep their eyes on those guys from now on.

If they did it again, which they probably will, then the officials should start suspending players. These kinds of behaviours have no room in all kind of sports except boxing and UFC lol.

Yes...in fact if I were commissioner I would push for rule that if your team is already eliminated, you can be suspended next game AND the first game next season - because a "suspension" for a no-bearing game doesn't mean much.

For graduating students though, this won't work. Maybe a monetary fine to the school is the only possible meaningful penalty.

how about stockton undercutting kobe and went to his knees instead of the ball? fall on deaf ears? double standard? lol. problem here is that many people rely only on social media where video or games are sliced. you try to watch that FEU and UP game and focus on stockton. you will see why bright did that to him. see the first round game and the second round game.

they should ban his ass next season.destroy his basketball career before he destroy another. i saw the game, it was clearly intentional. why would you swing your forearm just to box out while going for rebound? it was clear this kid is a thug.

Basketball-wise the worse that will happen to him will be him playing in the MPBL, where they sort of welcome that form of physicality.

All the MPBL has to do is survive til the next election. To be honest its best shot is to be purely an election ploy.
