kobe learned his lesson about wild lay ups.. he has some tear drop shots.. controlled lay ups. keep it up.. he's a good PNR defender

Juan was not a good defender even last year. But he was so stellar on offense and they lacked scorers so it didn't matter. This year they have a lot more scorers. Kobe is probably a better defender than him and has lesser competition in his position. I guess you can only afford one defensively challenged alpha scorer. Tungcab is probably getting Juans minutes because of this. And maybe Ricci is defending better in the 2nd team.

        • Unfortunately, JGDL has a short wingspan: one of his weaknesses to defend better.

          • Was manlapaz really 14 when he dunked on Kai? Why wasn’t he invited to any Batang Gilas teams if true, potential is very high.

            • That Webb for Juan situational substitution on that crucial final minute of the game should tell us something. Juan is not a bad defender but he isn't what we could consider a stopper. That move by Coach Bo actually worked well for them as they were able to switch the PnR with Webb covering Douanga. Bo has some skills in him after all.

              • Chauca, nauna yabang. He's also a ballhog. Chucks up a lot of ill advised shots.

How tall is Manlapaz? He reminds me of a young Roger Pogoy during his early FEU days.

people forget he coached those great Powerade and Air21 teams to multiple finals appearances.. Bo is great at orchestrating a strong team with a deep bench [look at his Air 21 teams with Arboleda-Billones-David-Santos-De Ocampo-Se-Telan-Thomas] but struggles to coach teams with shallow benches.. [this UP squad]. When he led Powerade to the Finals in 2012 he was relying on a 3-man core very similar to the one in UP right now. That Powerade team did reach the Finals but this was more because of Gary David and Lassiter burning up than Bo's tactics at that point.. Plus Bo's system needs a reliable point guard. In that Powerade team it was Casio. Last season with UP it was Desiderio. Manzo was supposed to be that guy this year but he ain't panning out. so basically Bo is a good coach if he has the right players, otherwise he's below average.

                            1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Paras is definitely a major upgrade, Desiderio was a brick machine last season. It was JGDL and Bright that towed UP to the finals.
