about denmon he had a 250K clause until 24th july midnight. he would either pay that and become a free agent or would not pay and stay at panathinaikos. maybe there was a misunderstanding with different time zones,maybe his agent wants more money,things as it stands suggest that the player has a contract with the team since he didnt pay the 250K clause to gain his free agency. so he has 3 choices right now. either find a team to pay panathinaikos and buy him (like chinese team did last year), come hear and play 2 years, or stay with his 2 years of contract and dont play basketball at all

he had a 250K clause that expired yesterday (24/6) midnight. panathinaikos announced him at 00.01 of 25/6. maybe time difference issues and misunderstanding,maybe he wants more money for him or his player,things as they stand right now is that the player has a contract with the team. he can find another team that will pay panathinaikos if he doesnt want to play for the team. you should be careful where you put your signature and before he left for china, denmon resigned with panathinaikos in case he comes back to europe. so for now he is a pao player

Let's say Denmon is still a PAO player.

You don't officially announce him unless he's agreed. If he has a running contract but doesn't want to abide by his signature, you go to the courts. Simple as that.

This reminds me once of Aris football club who was feeling fan pressure to sign players presented a player (Leonidas Vokolos) with a big press conference with shirt and the player saying he's delighted to play for Aris. He hadn't signed the terms though and after the press conference he was expecting the club to pay his signing on fee. The club didn't pay and said he would have to wait a week or so. He didn't like this. PAOK came in, offered similar terms which he agreed with and made their first payment. Two days later PAOK presented him at their press conference. You can imagine who much of a joke Aris was.

manos papadopoulos made an official statement about denmon. the player has a contract with panathinaikos since he didnt pay the clause out fee of 250K and if he wants to become a free agent or transfer to another team he must come and negotiate with the team about the exact price. panathinaikos will not allow him to play elsewhere unless we get that minimum fee of 250K. we can ask as much as want right now since the expiration date was 24/6. otherwise going on fiba trial is the other solution (and the player will not be able to play for another team i guess cause panathinaikos will inform them about the situation and the danger of losing the player if the trial is won by panathinaikos).
so next time denmon and misko should be more careful about their signature and where they put it. giannakopouloi have not forgotten how raznatovic took lakovic and spanoulis away from the team and now its payback time
