They still have a projected 7 footer in Papa though. Hope coach Goldwyn trains him well.

Great man zone defense by this kids. Oh man, this big kids really controlled the boards, limiting the Qatari to one shot...

I love the way this kid Geo Chiu not backing down from bullying tactics of the Qatari bigs.

Aj Edu has good lateral movement and quick hands on defense. His timing is good.

Our kids seem to be much quicker than the Qataris. I'm also liking the fact that they were able to hold the line even without Kai and AJ

Not gonna lie though the Qatar team didn’t really seem like a great tuneup partner. Noticed they kind of lacked effort.

Base on what I watched, Its good to see that big Batang Gilas Big Men, Kai, Tamayo and AJ has decent mid range and 3pt shots. Also Kai has a couple of good passes. On Batang Gilas 3pt shooters, Abadiano, Oczon and Panopio are consistent, while Ildefonso and Fortea kinda struggled.

Lots of positives for this team that has barely practiced.
Dalph's vision and orchestration maturity is really at a different level,, without question the best pure PG we've seen coming from youth teams.
Same can be said of AJ and Kai at their respective positions , we've never seen their level at the PF and center spot, they just move so well and mobile for a Filipino of their size
Geo is a revelation in terms of servicable big for the future

Can really see Tab's blueprint in this team, they're running typical flow and breaker associated with Tab's teams.

And the team being newly assembled is running things quite smootly

Good to know that he should be good enough to guard quick SF's and perhaps some SG's for some of the time.

2 quick, extra tall, and volume scoring wings, plus another powerful and rebounding demon big, and the core of this u19 will be respectable at senior level.

For me, what makes me happy is seeing the team defending. Sustained organised full court pressure is a joy to watch. Another revelation is team play. Offensive sets that are not hurried, with less dribbling and more purposeful ball movement and the heavy involvement of the bigs in the development of their plays. Gone are the days when our bigs were merely used as screens and were left with scraps and loose balls. The team is still very much work in progress but is full of promise. It's moving in the right direction though so brace yourselves guys and gals for our best basketball is coming... maybe even be sooner than we expected.

Indeed it's just so stricking obvious that this team and the Ateneo team that played in the Jones cup is the obvious right positive direction moving forward, exciting times indeed.. this team has strikingly a similar identity in system as what they're doing in Ateneo ( duh no surprise at all considering the architect behind it)

The pathway is also set as we're already qualified for the 2023 World cup, so basically 2020 to 2023 is focused to continue getting better. You would need to be stupid not to leverage off this promising team , that just does things the right way,,, and obvsiously it helps to have once in a generation talent.
