    Default Darüşşafaka Tekfen 2018/19

it seems Dacka has decided to stay in the EL, but they are not over their financial woes.

it's rumored that they are trying to re-negotiate or get rid of highly-paid active contracts. Ulubay and Aldemir ($1.5m/year!) are being shopped out.

Blatt is out, Wilbekin is under contract but it's difficult for Dacka to keep him.

    Roster
    Wilbekin - Loyd - Ozmizrak - Ozdemiroglu
    Peiners - Cummings - Baygul - Akay
    Bell - Sant-Roos - Ulubay
    Johnson - Kidd - Demir
    Eric - Aldemir - Kosut

    Coach: Ahmet Caki

no, Aldemir is. I think I read it may even be in euros. could be on basketfaul.com, not sure where.
Ulubay was rumored to be paid around $400k/year

Michael Eric & Dacka has renewed their contract.
Oguz Savas, one of the biggest lost potential of Turkish bball, is finally out of his lucrative contract. Now let's see if he'll look for an actual job, or enjoy his retirement.

Wow, I totally forgot about him, he was still under contract last season?
I know Dacka invented the idea of the practice player, but did Savas even practice??

yeah, he was, and it was rumored to be around $1m/year, but don't quote me on that. I don't think he actually practiced much, either.

btw, Erwin Dudley played actively in the league this year with Sakarya (12mpg), after his 2 full years of practice

Wow, Dacka really did go crazy handing out big contracts a couple of years ago.

    Ha, glad to hear it.

Btw, slightly off topic but is Preldzic contracted to Gala again for next season?

Did Dacka finished their roster, or they will need something else?

No, his contract with GS is over, and he's a free agent now. I'm thinking @janketa would want to see him back in Fener .

    No, they certainly haven't.

players in orange will likely leave.

Aldemir getting $1.5m/year is equally crazy. That's insane for a guy who is a part time guy as a rebounding specialist.

A lot of money coming off the books for Dacka with Aldemir, Savas, and likely Wilbekin and Johnson. If they don't reinvest it wisely they'll easily be the worst team in EL.

I saw that. The Euroleague press release made me laugh:

veteran big man Oguz Savas will rejoin the club for the coming 2018-19 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season after he spent one year away from the club.
"One year away" during which they were still paying him!

    their current roster is;

    Peiners, Ozmizrak, Ozdemiroglu
    McCallum, Baygul
    Brown, Ulubay
    Kidd, Aldemir, Demir
    Eric, Kosut, Savas

that does not look really competitive.

Peiners is not PG, he plays SG/SF and maybe PF.
Probably Ulubay and Aldemir will leave, they salaries are high. For this reason they kept Savas.
Also, they signed Diebler and I think they will get a new PF.

    McCallum - Ozmizrak - Ozdemiroglu
    Brown - Diebler
    Peiners - Baygul
    X - Kidd - Demir
    Eric - Kosut - Savas

you're right about Peiners. thank you. I just remembered him setting up the offense last year with Latvian NT, but that does not make him PG.

forgotten Diebler, yes. I think he'll be fine in this roster, as Baygul had suddenly forgotten shooting last year. Hope he picks up.

judging by how he started last year with Unicaja, McCallum is a waste of money, imho. I was shocked by how bad he was. later he seemed a bit better, but Wilbekin to McCallum is a huge downgrade.

Aldemir & Ulubay make ridiculous money, esp the former, but I don't know how Dacka can get rid of them as they're under contract.

Peiners is a very interesting player, he made important contributions to national team last year, I will follow him next season, I wonder how will he play.

Daçka played with very bad percentage last year except Wilbekin. Diebler may be a good option but he is a stationary shooter, I'm not sure if he can get that much shoot positions with this roster.

Although budget decreased, there could have been a better roster. McCallum and Brown has many question marks. Jefferson was terrible at Milan, if he had passed his medical examination, Daçka could have faced critical problems.

Ulubay will probably be loaned, I don't know where will Aldemir move but its salary is very high and Daçka doesn't want to continue. Fener and Efes wouldn't want, other Turkish teams can't even pay half of their salary.
