  • Since recently everyone’s favourite topic and discussion has been player development. I believe everyone should have a read about the 4 stages of player development in the USA. I know Europeans develop better players since they are good while not being athletic and massive and Americans are naturally athletic. So to listen to USA player development is not as good as listening to European player Development.

    INTRODUCTORY LEVEL:
Learn fundamental movement skills and build overall motor skills. Participation once or twice per week in basketball but daily participation in other sport activity is essential for further excellence. Group skill competitions recommended throughout the level. Introduction to team principles/concepts ONLY, avoid actual 5x5 competition until fundamentals are further developed.

    FOUNDATIONAL LEVEL:
Learn all fundamental and basic basketball-specific skills, establish building blocks for overall basketball skills. 70% of time is spent on individual fundamental training and only 30% of the time is spent on actual game competition. Teach position concepts, but DO NOT assign player positions at any point in the level. Divide actual competition between special games (1x1, 2x2, 3x3, skill games) and 5x5 play, trying not to focus on actual 5x5 competition until later in the level.

    ADVANCED LEVEL:
Build the aerobic base, build strength towards the end of the level and further develop overall basketball skills. Build the “engine” and consolidate basketball skills. Early in the level, 60% of the time is spent on individual training and 40% is spent on competition including 5x5 play, special games (1x1, 2x2, 3x3, skill games) as well as team-oriented practices. Later in the level, depending on mastery of skills, the switch can be made to a 50:50 training to competition ratio and positions can be assigned.

    PERFORMANCE LEVEL:
Maximize fitness and competition preparation as well as individual and position-specific skills. Optimize the “engine” of skills and performance. Training to competition ratio in this phase shifts to 25:75, understanding that the competition percentage includes team-oriented practices and other competition-specific preparations.

But maybe it is an indicative that he can only produce girl babies

I think whats missing in Philippine Basketball or Philippine Sports in general in the introductory level. Our Basketball players dont even run properly on the court, watch rosario, kobe, benjie, japeth. Yes those players may have extraordinary athleticism but very poor form. Some might not have participated in daily sports. That is probably one of the reasons why our players aren’t really great two way players. In some cases you dont have to play multiple sports but in some cases you kinda do. Guys like Castro and Barroca are very good defenders and are pesky might be because of their track and field experience. I know Troy, Kiefer played volleyball but other players like Fajardo (dota/billiards), Romeo (chess) along with many other players have shown poor foundations of being an athlete. Good basketball players yes but not good athletes. I know other countries they would open players to play other sports but in the Philippines there aren’t really much dual sport athletes. Maybe that is what’s missing.

                  • Just put Blatche, Douthit, Fajardo, Slaughter, and Edu in an island resort with the whole V-League players for two months and wait for that Asian championship in 25 years.

Femi was named MVP in his division. Also, grew taller according to his coach
                        Oh. Wow.

Femi is currently 14 yrs old 6'2 according to his mom.

Coach Said that he has great guard skills.

If he will grow taller, he will be unstoppable. Can be our Own Version of Magic/Simmons type. Hope he grow 6'7-6'9.
