    Default The Ding Yanyuhang thread

Hometown: Karamay, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region
    200cm/91kg/1993
    He was 198cm in 2011, and 196cm in 2010

2017-18 season stats after 11 games:
    7th CBA season
Team Shandong (Teammates include Donatas Motiejunas + Ty Lawson)
Mpg: 37 minutes (down from 38 last season)
Ppg: 27.8 points - career high
    FG%: 50.8% - career high
    3P%: 40.2% - career high
    FT%: 84.5% - career high
Rpg: 5.5 rebounds - career high
Apg: 2.5 assists - career high
Spg: 1.5 steals - career high
    Bpg: 0.3 blocks
TOpg: 2.3 turnovers (down from 3.0 last season)

    vs. Shanxi (Luis Scola + Brandon Jennings): 42 points + take over in 4th quarter (16 pts) + game-winner + game-winning block

vs. Fujian (Mike Harris + Russ Smith): 45 points

    vs. South Korea: 30 points

There's been some talks about him joining the NBA. Personally I don't think he'll make the NBA, but it's definitely not impossible. Ding's game is actually much better suited for the CBA, kind of like NBA reject Jimmer Fredette. Internationally Ding will be very hard to guard by opposing Asian teams, but we have yet to see him against Australia and other good teams since he broke out in 16-17 season. (The season before the Olympics he was averaging only 9.7 ppg, but in 16-17 he averaged 24.2 ppg.)

    Though these highlights are encouraging:

It's probably just a training camp contract. Nevertheless, it's a good opportunity to crack the NBA. It will be very tough IMO, but good luck to him.

How come this player hasn't played for China in the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers?
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV
