Gr. A: Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Chinese Taipei
Gr. B: China, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand

Though all teams will qualify for QF, Group A looks stronger and more uncertain as for the ranking.

Semifinalists will earn the last 4 spots for the 2018 U17 WC.

Korea's Yeeun Heo finished with 18 assists in today's win over Chinese Taipei.

Turns out Japan's Maya McArthur is the daughter of former Japanese naturalized player Eric McArthur who suited up for the NT back in 2006. Maya from USAB U16 Player pool to making it with Japan's U16. Quite the story.

So, McArthur will make the 2018 U17 WC, as Japan qualified together with Australia, China and first time ever New Zealand. Korea is out, falling to much taller China in QF.

Australia is gold winning a highly contested final vs Japan 61-60 in a twofold game. Japan dominated the first 15' then went ice-cold on shooting and little by little Aussie team took advantage of its size and rebounding and came back in the game, finally gaining the lead by mid of Q4.

#7 Palmer was high for the winners with 14 pts, but top player was imo #9 Emma-Nnopu. For Japan #14 Hirashita scored 15.

Anyway, this Australian team doesn't seem to be on the same class of 2015/2016 U16/17 champs.
