It doesn't matter where they were born but whether their Filipino parent/s still had Philippine citizenship when they were born. If Barefield and David were ineligible from the start, then it means that both of David's parents and Barefield's Pinay mom were already Canadian/US citizens at the time of their birth (meaning they had renounced their Philippine citizenship and hadn't regained it by applying for dual citizenship at the embassy or consulate).

With regards to Remy Martin, it looks like he might have been born in the Philippines, because he says his family is "still in the Philippines."

If Clarkson would be allowed to play by the lakers and FIBA, this would be an ultra fast backcourt combination.I think Martin is a milli second quicker than Castro and Romeo.I think he will be more competitive against the Aussies and the Kiwis. Not that I'm saying that Castro and Romeo are worthless, I just think Martin might give more of a challenge.

Kamaka Hepa: Third-generation Fil-Am, more Hawaiian blood than Pinoy, no PH consulate in Alaska, might be open to play as naturalized
Christian David: Born in Canada, ineligible from the start
Sedrick Barefield: Born in US, ineligible from the start
Remy Martin: Got his passport before turning 16, eligible
the video says (1:11) that Remy Martin has dual citizenship and he immigrated in the US as a teenager. So i guess he is indeed eligible to play for PHL.

Martin at PG, Hepa at PF, and Edu at C. Who do you think would compliment these guys in the starting 5? Hopefully, he is really eligible.

Assuming the three above will be released by their US schools for FIBA Asia U18, this is our suggested lineup:

                  MARTIN, PG
                  ILDEFONSO, SG
                  HEPA, SF
                  EDU, PF
                  SOTTO, C

Add Tamayo to complete the frontline. Padrigao to relieve Martin. At this time, Kai could serve well if he comes off the bench as a reliever for Edu. Maybe in the future both can play at the same time as a twin tower.

I watched the game of Arizona State U vs. Washington State U last night at TV5, &I can't help but be impressed with Remy Martin's defense. His two steals in the 2nd half enabled Arizona State to pull away from a tight game. He finished with 10 pts., 3 rebs., 1 asst. in 19 mins.

One thing I want about US college hoops is that teams really put premium on defense, specially the guards. Makikita mo na sa backcourt pa lang grabe na yung defensive pressure.

He's good and can become very good in 2 or 3 years.

                          But he's not our westbrook.

kid is damn good. i think in my opinion he is the true heir of castro. his intensity and motor and athleticism is just so good.

Defensively, I think Martin will be significantly better than Castro.

Offensively, I think Martin will be at least equal to or most likely even better than Castro. Martin is taller & more athletic than Castro.

Martin is averaging close to 10 pts./game right now in the US NCAA Div. 1 tournament. I think if he plays in the PBA right now, he will get that same average, or most likely, even higher than that (perhaps he will average 15 pts./game). And we are talking here about an 18/19-year old kid.
