  • Declare for the NBA draft? He's not that good there our different teirs of level, not even Clarkson was ready for the NBA as a 20 year old.
And that's what we have to remember he's only 20, so to say he's already as good as veterans is pushing it, yes heay be a better talent, but not necessarily a better PG now, that's obvious and is really a different thing

Then he's not good enough to play for Gilas until he reached the NBA then? Well lets not waste the kids time,he should be told that he had to earned it hard, this is where Gilas needs like a half a dozen tuneup games to see if he can jell with the locals.Doesn't this apply to Clarkson too?If Clarkson doesn't fit it in the system and with the homegrown players, what's the point of having him too?

      • the only thing to see if he is that good is to see him play personally.Maybe heis waiting for someone to send him a ticket or something?

This is total lack of foresight on the part of the SBP. We keep those aging players as a reward then we'll have mostly world cup ROOKIES again in 2023.

I'm not saying this for Remy alone but for the other 2023 world cup prospects who should be getting their exposure already.

3-4 young prospects won't hurt your stint and will help a lot in preparing for the next world cup where we happen to be one of the hosts. But, of course, why would yeng care when it's highly unlikely he'll be the coach.

They didn't even asked him if he could come in and tryout if he can fit or jell with the players.Well then it sounds like they don't need him in 2020 to 2024,tell the kid to move on Yeng doesn't need him and take his talent somewhere else.Even if they don't think they need him now, they could just invited the kid for some practice games, have him watch the college games,PBA,just so he will feel welcome let him feel how and what's expected for playing in a team like Gilas.

            • Granting this is just a case of preference (no technical issues), I'd say this is a very bad decision on whoever decided to not include Martin even for just the pool. Chemistry issue na naman ba? Leave the chemistry (read: politics) to the labs and recognize talent when you see one. Lol As if not getting Blatche the last time was not lesson enough. Tsk, tsk....

Such an eyesore to see impact players being left out when you see so so players in the pool that might not even see minutes come game time. I might sound like a broken record, but but for me prioritising two way players is a must.

It is,you can look ahead when 3 to 4 players in the Youth team will be playing mostly overseas and their contribution in qualifying might not be as much as the local talent spent during qualifying,so that means Yeng would rather give it to the older players,so guys like Kai,Edu,Panopio that will have commitments full time overseas are out.As I said before even if they already have a plan or list of who's who on the team, they should invite potential future players specially guys like Remy, just to make him feel welcome on the team,to really feel what's it like to play for a basketball crazy nation. The feeling of being cut without even given a chance to see what you can do is just a very deflating feeling.

he doesnt have Clarkson and Martin, chances are gilas will be blown out of proportion come WC.If thats the case theres no good reason to keep him.the guy has a very hard bald head.First was Blatche, he didnt get him till it was panick button time, now Martin. There's something wrong with the guy's ego against stateside ballers.Maybe he wants to insert Ighalo in the final lineup.

Maybe he wants to send an all 5’8 lineup

uncertain about his eligibility and being ineligible are two different things.

Because of the uncertainty in his eligibility and because Gilas Pilipinas head coach Yeng Guiao already stated that he will use many of his players from the last leg of the FIBA Asian Qualifiers, Martin will have to wait before getting the chance to wear a Philippine jersey.
theres another reason.its a toss up between Ighalo and Barroca

Yeah, but who’s saying he’s ineligible? Reading between the lines, Panlilio is saying he didn’t quite fulfill the passport before 16 prerequisite. That’s the only thing I said. If you wanna interpret Panlilio’s statement otherwise, be my guest. Just saying it does not take a lot to confirm if someone has a Phil passport before 16 or not.
