Default [1/4 Finals] Italy - Serbia

    Sep 13, Wednesday

Bellinelli and co is taking on arguably the 2nd biggest favorite of the tournament. What do you expect?

I've got Italy here as well - I think their defense will paralyze serbian offense

Italy would be more sympathetic to me with their unpredictability, but I don't see Serbia losing this one. Bogdanovic is a killer, and he's on duty.

I really don't know what to expect out of this one. Pre Tournament I definitely would have picked Serbia, but they haven't really impressed.

That said...Group D has been impressive so far in the knock out stage. I think Serbia's a bit more battle hardened.

Serbia is the clear favourite here... i think Marjanovic will be a big rebus for italian difense: single coverage (and probably 20+ points by serbian giant) or double team (and pass to his teammates for easy shots from 3)?? That's a tough question for coach Messina... also Bogdanovic will be a huge problem for italian backcourt.

What a pity Gallo is not with the team because this could have been a great chance to finally enter the semifinal... not Italy NT has to play the perfect game to advance. Not that's impossible but likely improbable.

Serbia seems to be the logical choice, but they face the most anti-Italian Italian NT ever. And yes, they're unpredictable. If they are motivated Serbians could be in trouble.

Unfair match up, but that is what tournaments like that is all about... both teams deserve a final four spot!
Full of talented teams... if serbia wasn't hit by all those absences would have been by far gold medalists.
I will go with the fox of the courts... Etore Mesina the best head coach of the tournament!

There are at least 6 teams who deserve a final four spot.

Even Spain had difficult time with Turkey, about games with Russia and Latvia, I would say that both teams are pretty good. Look how Russia played today, how Latvia blown Montenegro away. Truth is that we didn't play good against Hungary, but even with stronger teams we had troubles with outsiders. It's a matter of motivation.

Italy is a really good team, but we still have weapons for this match up. Plus good thing is to see Kuzmić waking up on the offense end.

So another gem coming out of Istanbul. It seems that local organizers have banned Serbian fans from wearing shajkacha (Serbian traditional hat) and carrying flags to the games. Wtf is that all about? This is an international competition and all countries should be represented...

I don't know what's the source of this crap, but you could see Serbian fans wearing that hat and carrying Serbian flags in Hungary game.

A number of fans have been kicked out during the game and warned after. There were no problems before the Hungary game for some reasons.

It is all over media in Serbia by pretty much every outlet and the NT officials were informed about it. I am sure the federation will put forward a protest but I have no idea why would that happen in the first place...

in Cluj, our supporters coming from Bosnia and Hercegovina were stripped of their croatian flags if there were any names of cities from B&H on the flag.
in Hercegovina lives a huge number of people of croatian nationality, majority of our NT players are in fact coming from Hercegovina.
but apparently those are FIBA rules.
one guy in front of me was thrown out of the hall because after his flag was taken he made a stupid racist comment about the security guy regarding this.
for the last game against Czechs I wasn't allowed to take our flag inside because it was apparently too big, and I had it inside against Montenegro and Spain.

Hi guys, truly i didin't expect us to play well in this tournament but messina is a good trainer and i hope he finds out a solution to stop opponent shooters and beli and datome bail us out of offensive problems.

i am sure it will be a tough match up and the game 'll figure out in the last minutes of the 4th quarter.

    may the beat team win!
