I actually didn't understand this thread. Most of it it's wrong. What did you mean with that list Kings?

Those are not the teams that have qualified for the Olympics. Those are the teams that are eligible for the second chance Olympic qualifying tournament.

But how many European teams get to go to the qualifying tournament and how many teams will qualify for the Olympics from this tournament?

Two qualify directly. Spain is already qualified. Four go to the qualifying tournament. Which will have the teams listed by Kings. It will be 12 teams competing for 3 spots. Dates and location yet to be determined.

Shouldn't it be in China or neutral place?

I heard the same. Now that Iran is in, they have to hope that Israel will not qualify, because then they will have a game less. Achmadinedschad will not allow his team to play against Israel.

Won't FIBA impose harsh sanctions on Iran in that event? Like banning Iran from the next Asian championship tournament?

I think FIBA should try to keep both teams from being in the same group, at least. Iran decided not to play the 2005 U21 WC, they put some lame excuse but the reason was they had to play Israel.
