  • MVP of the 13th FIBA-Americas Championships

Who is your choice of the MVP of the 13th FIBA-Americas Championships?

    Carmelo Anthony (USA)
    Carlos Arroyo (Puerto Rico)
    Larry Ayuso (Puerto Rico)
    Leandrinho Barbosa (Brazil)
    Kobe Bryant (USA)
    Esteban Batista (Uruguay)
    Samuel Dalembert (Canda)
    Carlos Delfino (Argentina)
    LeBron James (USA)
    Pablo Prigioni (Argentina)
    Luis Scola (Argentina)

And on top of that, who are your All Star Five
    for CENTRE, FORWARDS and GUARDS

For me, my MVP is definitely Esteban Batista. Alright, I know I am being biased however, you have to give the man credit for the fact that he has put up some HUGE numbers and on top of that up lifted Uruguay to a surprisingly 6th place ahead of Venezuela and Panama, both of whom were 2006 Basketball World Championship participants.

    My FIBA-Americas All Star Five

    CENTRE: Esteban Batista
    FORWARD: Luis Scola
    FORWARD: LeBron James
    Guard: Leandrinho Barbosa
    Guard: Kobe Bryant

Nah. I would take James, his performance on Team USA has been pretty amazing. I mean, he is avergaing 16.7 points on 85% from the field, 4.9 assists (2nd to Prigioni), 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals. Pretty much trumps Kobe in every category, I would say that only Kobe has done better is defensive intensity.

LeBron was the best player in the tournament, Anthony was second, you can't penalize them just because their team was dominant.

Pretty tough to say, I'd take the starting five from the US, but to be fair I say...

                    Center- Esteban Batista
                    Forward - Carmelo Anthony
                    Forward - Luis Scola
                    Guard - Kobe Bryant
                    Guard - Larry Ayuso

MVP? wow, Carmelo Anthony, you have to look at the fact the he played great and Team USA went 10-0.
"...quite possibly the greatest player of all time!"

lebron james for me is the MVP.

                      carmelo is the designated hitman
                      kobe the stopper
jason kidd pretty much directed traffic

but lebron hitting about 80% from the field, plus assists, that pretty much sums it up. he's been unstoppable. nobody in this tournament could match up with him. scola places second. carmelo third.

                        Official picks:

Prigioni - Bryant - Anthony - Scola (MVP) - Splitter

My picks: the same, but Batista replacing Splitter.

I don't get it, I am not in-love with LeBron James but the man was simply amazing in the final and scored 18 points a game on 85% shooting?! 63% from three, second in the tournament in assists, and he doesn't make the all-tournament team? I think that's shady.

He was the best point-guard or playmaker of tournament, specially in the important games, there was not any other pure point-guard with his level.
I think James could easily replace Anthony, but maybe all the starting five of USA should be considered as the ideal starting five, maybe replacing Howard with Scola
