Bahamas dominated the Caribbean championship last year, although the USVI didn't have to play. Mexico won COCABA, winning their meeting with Panama 90-72.

Guyana roster:

The team which is headed by Lugard Mohan, includes Nigel Bowen, Tramine Brown, Kelmar Carmichael, Akeem Crandon, Shamar France, Roydon Glasgow, Jether Harris, Andrew Johnson, Jermaine King, Kevon Wiggins, Anthony Yanson and Jahleel Young.

Missing last year's top scorer Jordan Alphonso, who now plays in the US. New York-based Wiggins scored 15 a game last year but with a very low shooting percentage.

Puerto Rico roster:

Jermaine Miranda, Harry Sosa, Víctor Rosa, Algenis Quintana, Jeriel Zayas, Omar Morales, James De Jesús, Ernesto Torres, Eduardo Peralta, Emmanuel Hernández, Jorge Torres y Francisco Ramos.

Mexico roster:

Miguel Argomaniz, Christian Maldonado, Javier Gonzalez, Rogelio Arredondo, Leonardo de Coninck, Marco Salcido, Moises Andriassi, Jared Perez, Sebastian Reynoso, Arturo Castillon, Raul Olea, Luis Ochoa

Three-point specialist Andriassi was their top scorer at COCABA last year, but they're missing Jose Villavicencio, who scored 14.5 ppg on 65% shooting, and also averaged seven assists a game.

Panama roster:

Jonathan Andrade, Ricardo Lindo, John David Gunn, Roberto Armstrong, Jesús Lombardo, Jesús Sanjur, Edward López, Fermín Borbua, Adrián Roux, José Anguizola, Oscar Zephyrine y Ramsés Garibaldi.

Andrade, Gunn, Armstrong, and Lombardo all averaged double-digit scoring in COCABA here, but the top player might be the Washington-based Lindo, a 6-7 wing who earned numerous D1 scholarship offers after a big growth spurt last summer.

Frink was the top scorer on the U17 team last year, and Jones had a strong U16 tournament in June.

Another tough loss for Panama, who played today without the injured Ricardo Lindo. Mexico edged Bahamas in the crucial game for second place in Group A behind 32 points from Javier Gonzalez.

Panama got double-doubles from three different players and with the big win they advanced to the semis on the tiebreaker. Another tough loss for the Bahamas and the four English-speaking countries are eliminated.

David Jones, who had missed a pair of free throws seconds earlier, made two free throws with two seconds left (after PR was called for a reach 40 feet from the basket...) to give the Dominicans the win in a wild finish. Alanzo Frink scored 22 points (8/11 FG) and was named tournament MVP.

After three close losses earlier in the tournament, Panama came from 17 points down late in the third quarter to grab the third spot at the Americas U18 next year. Ricardo Lindo scored 39 points (24 in the fourth quarter!) and added 19 rebounds for Panama., while Andriassi scored 28 for Mexico after putting up 32 in the semifinal.

Disappointing tournament for the Bahamas, but Dominick Bridgewater ended as the tournament's top scorer with 24.8 ppg.
